Nancy Pelosi Rips Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell For Cowardice Over Trump
Source: Huffington Post
WASHINGTON ― The failure of Republican leaders to denounce Donald Trumps refusal to abide by a potential electoral loss is worsening the damage the GOP presidential nominee is already doing to Americas democratic system, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) charged Thursday.

Yet, the two top-ranking Republicans in the United States ― Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and House Speaker Paul Ryan (Wis.) ― have been entirely quiet.
Neither office had anything to say to HuffPosts repeated queries on the subject, although Ryans spokeswoman, AshLee Strong, pointed to what she said on Saturday: Our democracy relies on confidence in election results, and the speaker is fully confident the states will carry out this election with integrity.

Every Republican leader must immediately join Democrats in denouncing Trumps utter contempt for our democracy, Reid added. At long last, it is time for Republican leaders to put their country ahead of their party.

They're up to no good, the silence is deafening. We don't have a 45th
President until the transfer of power is complete in January. And Harry Reid has nailed it.
The GOP has stalled, obstructed, refused to do their jobs at various points
for 8 years. Trump is but the latest manifestation of that tactic, all
orchestrated for the GOP's partisan political objectives and gain.
It ain't finished until they are sent packing. Vote and GOTV!
My bet is they're going to try to mess with the Electoral College. If they can get
one judge to declare something void, can our understaffed Supreme Court
decide the issue? No. Lower rulings stand in that event.
We are so vulnerable.

(24,720 posts)anything when his republican state cronies with the help of the Dark Money from the likes of the Koch's wanted to rigged the system when it came to voting in Wisconsin,--------nice try Ayn Rand Ryan----------not happening this time, you never said anything not once while this was going on, you support a racists and a bigot, and a man that has said that he will put people on the U.S. Supreme Court that attack woman and there right to choice and privacy.
Your a disgrace, you and your right wing cronies have and will have worked only 111 days this year, and your making 223,000 a year, while I and millions of others got only a $3.00 COLA raise.
Why haven't you Ayn Rand Ryan and Turtle Lips McConnell let this bill come to a vote, you have given your self a pay raise, and have take over 260 days of vacation for 2016, to spend time with you family and trying to have it both ways on your right wing dumpster platform

(24,338 posts)It's good politics to hit them by Pelosi
But, for Ryan and McConnell, they are leaders of the Republican Party, so they have certain obligations that go with that
Problem is, if they hit back at Trump they could wind up with a rebellion among their own members and could wind up like Cruz did when polls in September showed about 27% of Trump supporters in Texas wouldn't vote for him - hence, Cruz supports Trump. Oh and the money Cruz is getting (one of his biggest donors is a Trump supporter)
Riece (whatever his name is) who is Republican Chairman has a different role, he's not elected by the public, and is less accountable to every member of the House and Senate. He has to look out for what he sees as the best long-term interest of his party
I don't think their silence is nefarious, I think it's politics
