Pet owners left dogs in Florida home to starve, sheriff says
Source: Cox News
Investigators in Brevard County were looking for a pet owner Friday who they say left two dogs to die of dehydration and starvation in a Grant Valkaria home.
Deputies received a call for a well-being check on the suspected residents after neighbors said they hadnt seen them since Hurricane Matthew, the Brevard County Sheriffs Office said.
When they arrived at the home, they immediately saw a seriously emaciated and visibly malnourished dog.
"Fearing for the safety of the animal, deputies recovered the endangered pet and immediately located another dog in similar condition," Sheriff Wayne Ivey said on the sheriffs office Facebook page.

(195 posts)I live in Grant Valkaria and this is not normal. We were very lucky in that the Hurricane zigged north and just missed us. But, this sort of thing is very uncommon in this area.

(4,033 posts)Some creatures (not sure I want to use words like 'people' or even 'human') should simply be expelled from society. These cretins should be found, locked up, and never, ever, allowed to own any kind of animal ever again. (They probably should not be allowed to procreate either. Someone who would do this to dogs could not be trusted to do it to their children.)

(5,611 posts)Hopefully those dogs will be placed in homes that don't abuse them! That looks like long-term abuse. Pit bulls do seem to suffer a high level of abuse -- why would these idiots starve these dogs like this and abandon them? I have read the stories about the pit bulls raised for fighting that are deliberately starved and abused for "dominance" crap with fighting. These dogs don't look like they were "fighting" dogs.

I pray these animals are conscious enough to realize, after all, that there ARE people who care about them, and love them.
