Pence: 'I've Never Heard' Talk About Discouraging Democratic Turnout

Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence was taken aback Friday morning when asked about a Thursday report detailing the Donald Trump campaign's tactics to discourage Democratic voters from casting their ballot for Hillary Clinton.
On MSNBC's "Morning Joe," Bloomberg's John Heilemann noted that a Trump campaign official told Bloomberg Businessweek that the campaign has "three major voter suppression operations under way." The adviser detailed how the campaign is trying to turn African-Americans, women, and other Democratic voters against Clinton.
"Is that okay, for your campaign to be involved in voter suppression?" Heilemann asked Pence.
"Number one, I haven't read the article," Pence replied. "That's offensive to me, that kind of language. It's not our operation. Donald Trump and I want every American who has the opportunity to vote to vote in this election. And that's our message, is to tell the American people that this country really belongs to them."

Roughly 45,000 newly registered voters in Indiana almost all of whom are black may not be allowed to vote next month after state police targeted the states largest voter registration drive, forcing it to shut down its operation.
Police raided the Indiana Voter Registration Project (IVRP) offices on October 4, seizing documents and equipment and forcing the group to cease its get-out-the-vote efforts one week before the end of the states registration period. Bill Buck, a spokesperson for the liberal nonprofit Patriot Majority USA which runs the IVRP, told ThinkProgress that IVRP could have registered about 5,000 more voters in that additional week.

(1,241 posts)we need to reelect a Republican congress. But no one called him on the fact that the Republican congress we have, has a 9% rating for 6 years now. Would you hire any person who is going to give your company 9% of his job requirements??? They usually want 110%.

(9,114 posts)He's just talking about the ones his crew lets have the opportunity to vote.
And if that means some bundy brigaders are blocking the door to the polls, or some repug national committee connected lawyers are backing the voting line up for 6 hours with challenges to electors, or some repug sec of state lost their voter registration -- those people who don't wind up getting to vote might have the right to vote, but just don't have the opportunity.
He's perfectly consistent, he's not lying, he's saying exactly what he thinks. Bircher swine, repuglican nazi.

(12,448 posts)that Trump suggested cancelling the election and declaring himself president? He also hasn't heard of the 45,000 Blacks in his own state of Indiana being at risk of not being allowed to vote?
I'll bet he has heard of the nonexistent "danger" of voter fraud; it's his own theme song, sung at maximum volume. The same voter fraud that's used as an excuse for--guess what?--voter surpression.
