Ex-DOJ Spox Rips Comey for ‘Inappropriate Public Disclosure’ of New Emails

Source: Mediaite

A former DOJ spokesman went off on FBI Director James Comey today for what he considered to be a deviation from standard protocol where the new Hillary Clinton email revelations are concerned.

Matthew Miller, a Hillary Clinton supporter, said that what Comey did was an “inappropriate public disclosure” so close to the election:

This is such an inappropriate public disclosure by Comey. And sadly the latest in a long string of them. https://t.co/8MgrH9UKlR

— Matthew Miller (@matthewamiller) October 28, 2016

Comey refused to even tell Congress if FBI was investigating Trump camp for Russia hack, but regular updates on Clinton are apparently A-ok.

Should've stayed quiet. But now that he's opened the door, needs to explain what the FBI is actually doing.

(K&R, thanks for posting, highplainsdem)

What can we do?....Plenty!

We can submit our comments & questions about this to Comey's boss, Loretta Lynch
http://www.justice.gov/doj/webform/your-message-department-justice

We can also submit our questions & comments about this to Attorney General Lynch's boss
President Obama @

Call White House Comment Line:

We can also use whatever resources we have, including our Facebook, Twitter, & any other social website accounts we have to spread the word about the fact that FBI Director Comey may well have broken the law regarding his "inappropriate public disclosure" so close to the election.

COMEY MUST GO!

On November 9, President Obama needs to fire Comey. Resignation is used to preserve the guy's honor, and Comey has lost the right to keep that.

After that, they need to find out how much collusion there was between James Comey and Donald Trump.

Be interesting to learn if anyone made a quick million or two out of that little stock market dip when people thought for a quick second, "OH SHIT--the orange crazy guy might have a shot!!!"

I'll tell you why I rather forcefully prefer resignation: if the guy is FIRED, then the right wing turns him into a hero. If he resigns on his own (or with a sturdy push/shove), he is acknowledging his own error.

That, in and of itself, does not mean he can escape charges. It ofen ensures they'll go easier on ya--forcing the boss to play the asshole is bad form. But he can still go through the investigatory process and be charged with HATCH ACT violations and other crimes, like conspiracy, as well.

As a rather recent example, Petraeus "resigned" even though he was, in fact, informally fired, and he did not escape charges, though his punishment was rather light.

The FBI should also be investigating Trump's ties with Vladimir Putin
who he has done business with for decades, (mostly in secret) as well as Trump openly suggesting that Putin "hack into" the DNC''s computers, as well as HRC's e-mails.
Trump may well have violated federal laws by encouraging a foreign leader to meddle in the U.S.elections.

Also, there's the matter of Trump's former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort', whose name was found by governmental investigators,
"as well as companies he sought business with, as they try to untangle a corrupt network they say was used to loot Ukrainian assets and influence elections during the administration of Mr. Manafort's main client, former (Ukranian) President Viktor F. Yanukovych.
Handwritten ledgers show $12.7 million in undisclosed cash payments designated for Manafort from Yanukovych's pro-Russian political party from 2007 to 2012."
("Secret Ledger in Ukraine Lists Cash for Donald Trump's Campaign Chief&quot
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/15/us/politics/paul-manafort-ukraine-donald-trump.html

Did Manafort report these earnings to the IRS?
If he didn't, then he's in violation of U.S. law, and Comey's FBI should be spending their time.investigating him, as well as Trump secret business dealings with Putin since the 1990s.

Also, the "timing" of Comey's letter to GOP Congressional leaders is possibly a violation of U.S election law, coming only 11 days before the 2016 presidential election

Maybe they're doing such investigations and keeping it a secret? Given how Comey has spoken and written publicly, I doubt it.
