Cruz to hit campaign trail for Trump

Ted Cruz will appear with Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence at two events Thursday, his first appearance on the campaign trail for Donald Trump.

Pence's spokesman, Marc Lotter, confirmed reports of the joint appearance on Twitter Thursday afternoon, retweeting a news story and referring to the schedule as "exciting." Cruz also retweeted the news.

The pair will campaign in Prole, Iowa, Thursday morning before an afternoon appearance in Portage, Mich. Cruz won the GOP primary in Iowa and trailed Trump by about 10 points in Michigan.

Cruz's decision not to endorse Trump roiled the Republican National Convention this summer and prompted a revolt among many of Cruz's supporters - his own convention delegation booed him at an event the following day, and some top Texas lawmakers have reportedly begun to rumble about challenging him in a primary.
