Kim Davis tries to wiggle out of paying legal fines after losing marriage battle

Source: Associated Press

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — A county clerk in Kentucky who refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples last year is asking a federal judge not to make her pay legal fees for the couples who sued her.

Attorneys for the couples who sued Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis asked U.S. District Judge David Bunning to award them about $233,000 in legal fees and costs.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports Davis’ lawyers urged Bunning in a response Monday to deny the request.

Roger K. Gannam of Liberty Counsel, the religious advocacy organization that represented Davis, wrote that the case was resolved in the legislature and the couples aren’t entitled to legal fees. Jeffrey C. Mando, a Rowan County attorney, said in a separate response that the county government shouldn’t be forced to pay anything.

If so, it would be interesting to see an accounting of how that money has been spent.

Davis was sued for her bigotry, and for her actions. She should be made to pay.

Oh, and Ted Cruz too. He's another "me-too" dude.

Just send Huckabee a bill for $200,000. Ask Cruz for about $25,000 for his 'support'.

See how much that "Christian" Huckabee is willing to help a fellow "Christian" in need.

He looks so uncomfortable in those overalls and that ridiculous hat. Dressed that way to appeal to rural folk? It seems so staged and fake.

REAL rural folk wear baseball caps with the logo of something agricultural, like an equipment manufacturer or a seed supplier, printed on them. They're called Gimme Caps, because that's how you get them: "Hey, gimme one of those caps."

They also don't wear those stupid fucking bib overalls either. They wear canvas work pants - either Carhartt or Ben Davis - or jeans.

Dressing like a stereotypical hillbilly isn't fooling anyone.

Completely out of touch with the "common man." Whatever the hell that means any more.

Ball caps, flannel shirts and t-shirts, wool caps, boots and wellies. Shorts and sneakers. Carhatt jackets, lined jean jackets, etc.

They do not look like a Central Casting bumpkin.

can afford to buy Carhartt clothing. Their stuff is not cheap- I know because I own enough of their stuff. It is very well made and durable, but that come with a hefty price tag.

Now, not so much?

Many things are just too expensive to fight

Avoid court whenever you can even if it involves realizing
you can't control the behavior of others nor the prescriptions
of the state

God will forgive you

All others pay cash

Even if this hateful asshole gets stuck with the bill, a quick GoFundMe campaign will have other hateful assholes sending money in to pay it off for her.
