The Lies Begin As Trump Takes Credit For Keeping Ford Plant In The US That Wasn't Leaving

Source: politicususa.com

President-elect Donald Trump is making up fantasy accomplishments before he reaches the White House. Trump tweeted that has successfully kept a Ford plant from going to Mexico. The problem is that the plant was never going to leave.

DonaldTrump@realDonaldTrump

Just got a call from my friend Bill Ford, Chairman of Ford, who advised me that he will be keeping the Lincoln plant in Kentucky - no Mexico

The problem with Trump’s claim is that the Ford plant wasn’t going to leave. Ford was shifting production from Michigan to Mexico to make room for the Michigan plant to make two new products. The plant was always staying. No jobs were going to be lost.

He's flat out lying and they're eating it up.

It'll be interesting to see if the media calls him out. Needless to say I'm not holding my breath in that regard.

4. One of my local television stations reported this as Breaking News this evening.

I sent an email to their news director:

On this evening's 11:00 newscast, your anchor had breaking news -- President-elect Trump's tweet that Ford will not be shutting down their Kentucky plant and moving its production lines to Mexico. That's true, because they had never intended to move that plant to Mexico. They intend to move Ford Focus production to Mexico from Michigan, and move production of other models to the Michigan facilities. Ford has invested $1.3 billion in the Kentucky plant in the last year, which will bring 2000 new jobs.

I got this information from the Washington Post (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2016/11/17/trump-just-took-credit-for-stopping-ford-from-moving-a-plant-to-mexico-but-it-was-planning-to/) in a simple, five second Google search. But if you prefer to get your news from Donald Trump's tweets, notorious for their pants-on-fire lies, without any verification, I will no longer be watching any of your news programs.

I figure that we all need to speak up. Every. Stinking. Time. Don't let them get away with it. Hold their feet to the fire.

5. I'm glad he's being called on this, borders on pathological

In the debates, and certainly at his rallies, he lied over and over again about carmakers - specifically Ford - shutting down and moving to Mexico. The narrative was a part of his "we don't make anything here" and "the US economy is in freefall" spiel. In fact, US automakers have been adding US workers steadily throughout the recession and have been doing just fine. And US manufacturing output is at an all time high.

I think he got the idea about Ford because they're going to build two economy cars in Mexico. The plants that currently build them here are being refitted to build SUV's, and the net effect on US jobs will be positive.

His reading comprehension appears to be rather dim. Then when he finds out Ford isn't shutting down and moving to Mexico, rather than think "I was wrong about that", he thinks "its because of me!". Pathological lying stupidity, and I can only shudder to think that someone might believe him.

Trump just took credit for stopping Ford from moving a plant to Mexico. But it wasn’t planning to.

Here’s what president-elect Donald Trump has been doing after the election

He has been holding interviews and meeting with Congress and the president as he prepares to transition into the White House.

President-elect Donald Trump claimed credit on Thursday for keeping a Ford plant in Kentucky from moving to Mexico. But the company never planned to move the entire plant, only one of its production lines.

Ford has never announced plans to move to Mexico either its Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, which produces the Lincoln Navigator, or the Louisville Assembly Plant, which produces the Lincoln MKC and the Ford Escape.

In a statement on Thursday night, following Trump's tweet, the company said it had told Trump it would cancel a plan to shift production of a single model — the MKC — from Kentucky to Mexico. The company last year indicated it would be moving MKC production out of Louisville, though it did not announce where it was going. At the time, union leaders said the shift would not cost any jobs in Kentucky, because Escape production would replace lost MKC production............................
