Trump Foundation admits to violating ban on self-dealing, new filing to IRS shows

Source: The Washington Post

By David A. Fahrenthold November 22 at 10:20 AM

President-elect Donald Trump’s charitable foundation has admitted to the IRS that it violated a legal prohibition against “self-dealing,” which bars nonprofit leaders from using their charity’s money to help themselves, their businesses or their families.

That admission was contained in the Donald J. Trump Foundation’s IRS tax filings for 2015, which were recently posted online at the nonprofit-tracking site GuideStar. A GuideStar spokesman said the forms were uploaded by the Trump Foundation’s law firm, Morgan, Lewis and Bockius.

The Post could not immediately confirm if the same forms had actually been sent to the IRS.

In one section of the form, the IRS asked if the Trump Foundation had transferred “income or assets to a disqualified person.” A disqualified person, in this context, might be Trump — the foundation’s president — or a member of his family, or a Trump-owned business. The foundation checked “yes.”

Lock him up.

The Clinton Foundation is an A+ rated charity one which none of the Clintons made one dime
from but the Trump Foundation which was used to pay bribes and pay for Trumps own spending.

the pundits (led by one of my faves, Ari Melbar) held that he will keep pushing the envelope doing whatever he wants unless/until someone (US) stops him, possibly through impeachment proceedings, and then we'll have a Const. crisis.

Issue is that we now have a repuke Congress and possibly a repuke SCOTUS upcoming. Will Congress impeach him? Maybe some mod repugs getting together with Dems? STay tuned

It has actually admitted illegal activity.

But no. Where's the political motivation to "investigate"?

"In the new 2015 tax filing, the Trump Foundation acknowledged for the first time that it owned these items. But it listed market values far below what the foundation had paid: The helmet was valued at $475. The portrait purchased for $20,000 was valued at $700. And the portrait purchased for $10,000 was valued at $500."---helmet purchased for $10,000

like property is only worth a million for "property taxes, etc" but when seeking loans, it's worth 100 million.

I hate that he gets away with all this disception and cheats us, the american taxpayers.

Nothing will stick at this point. The republicans have the power and will do nothing to undermine that even if it means keeping a useful idiot in the Whitehouse.

Unless... he starts picking on republicans.

The reason for the extension -

"Certain information needed for the proper completion of this return is currently unavailable."

pretty vague justification, but that's how he is.

Anyone else doing what he's done would be spending decades in jail, however he's rich, so just says he'll pay large fines, settles but rarely ever pays us or does what he said he would do. He's a monster who's out to destroy us and repugs will do nothing but help him.

I really think he ran to enrich himself and his cronies and take all the money ala the bush depression. Also think he's got a deal with Russia to enrich himself by fucking over the world and handing it to Russia in gift wrapped box. Don't think he will pardon himself, that would almost be sane. Think he will try to have some judges removed and create a constitutional crisis and declare the government has been replaced by him as lifetime dictator. Of course, he could just have Congress make new laws saying his actions aren't criminal. Or he could just be assured repugs will do nothing at all to him and he can rape and pillage all he wants as long as he signs every bill they send him? Sad, scary times!
