McConnell: Americans 'Will Not Tolerate' Dems Blocking SCOTUS Nom

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) fired back at Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for his vow that Democrats will fight to keep the Supreme Court vacancy open if President-elect Donald Trump selects a nominee from out of the mainstream.
At a press conference Wednesday, McConnell mocked Schumer for expanding what Republicans labeled the "Biden rule'"-- referring to a 1992 speech given by then Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE) discouraging the appointment of a Supreme Court nominee close to an election -- while arguing that "the American people simply will not tolerate" Democratic efforts to obstruct Trump's eventual nominee.
Last year, McConnell led a Republican blockade against even considering Merrick Garland, President Obama's nominee to fill the late Justice Antonin Scalia's seat, securing the vacancy for Trump.
"I noticed my counterpart Sen. Schumer announced yesterday that their goal was to apparently never fill the Supreme Court vacancy. That's kind of an expansion of the Biden rule," McConnell said, before reiterating his definition of the Biden rule.

(15,805 posts)I've seen preschoolers come up with more inventive lies... even with the chocolate smeared all over their upturned little faces. At least McConnell could put in a little teenage effort when he lies and add a good eye roll, or a big chest heaving sigh, even a foot stomp before flouncing off, and I'd pay cash money to see him pose with pouty duck lips after hos next lie..

Unbelievable what these pigs at the trough want to do -- and will probably get away with. And still the MSM cautiously says, "Republicans may want to," and "Trump seems to..." For Christ's sake, get off your asses and tell the fucking truth!
But alas, Megyn Kelly is going to NBC News. Tell me, have the four horsemen saddled up yet?

(117 posts)But ultimately the rethugs will end up changing the senate rules to allow SCOTUS nominations on simple majority votes. It's already been done away with for lower court judges and I'm sure the Democrats' "obstruction"will be used as pretense to eliminate the 60 vote threshold.

Sen. McConnell doesn't consider those who would tolerate (let alone appreciate) such blockage to be Americans and intends to govern as such
we need to get beyond outrage and focus on decoding their dogwhistles instead
