GOP rep's ObamaCare Twitter poll backfires

Source: theHill

By Brooke Seipel - 01/04/17 01:15 PM

Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) on Tuesday posted a poll on Twitter to get feedback on Republicans' proposed ObamaCare repeal. As it turns out, though, a majority of Twitter users who voted recommended keeping the healthcare law in place.

While Blackburn might have expected to hear only from her Tennessee district — which handily reelected her in November — she soon found the poll swamped with votes opposed to an ObamaCare repeal.

The poll from Blackburn, a member of President-elect Trump's transition team, received 7,968 votes, with 84 percent opposing a repeal of ObamaCare. The repeal opponents' side was likely helped by a retweet from White House spokesman Eric Schultz. ...................................

If not for their hard work, health insurance would probably be too expensive for me to afford.

Blackburn's professional career began in 1973 when she was hired as a sales manager for Times Mirror, Inc. In 1975 she was named Director of Retail Fashion and Special Events of the Castner Knott Division of Mercantile Stores, Inc. She held this position until 1978, when she became the owner of Marketing Strategies, a promotion-event management and image consulting firm. She continues to run this business.[6]

...and it blew up in her face! Happened in 2015.

“This week marks the 5th anniversary of Obamacare being signed into law. Whether it’s turned your tax filing into a nightmare, you’re facing skyrocketing premiums, or your employer has reduced your work hours, I want to hear about it. Please share your story with me so that I can better understand the challenges you’re facing.”

She got 10,000 of those stories right back at her.

Seattle Times:

From the very first comment (“My story is that I once knew 7 people who couldn’t get health insurance, and now they all have it, thanks to the ACA …) to the 9,880th (“I was recently diagnosed with Fibromuscular Dysplasia and thanks to Obamacare, I know I won’t be dropped by my insurance carrier”)...All of which she ignored when she called for the total repeal of the law the next day.

Nationally, the sign-up rate for the adult Medicaid expansion is less than 4%; IN HER OWN CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT it was a whopping 15.5%!! And they re-elected this idiot. They voted against their own best interests! I can have empathy, but no sympathy for them.
