Trump Says Only Fools See Good Relationship With Russia as Bad
Source: Bloomberg
Facing calls to strike back at Russia for President Vladimir Putins decision to hack the 2016 U.S. election campaign, president-elect Donald Trump instead suggested warmer relations between the two countries.
Having a good relationship with Russia is a good thing, not a bad thing, Trump said Saturday in a series of three Twitter posts. Only stupid people, or fools, would think it is bad! We have enough problems around the world without yet another one.
When I am President, Russia will respect us far more than they do now, Trump assured his 18.9 million Twitter followers. The comments came a day after being presented with evidence by top U.S. intelligence officials that Putin personally ordered cyber and disinformation attacks during the campaign.
Trump also blamed the Democratic National Committee for allowing hacking to occur during the U.S. presidential campaign and restated there was no evidence cyberintrusions that U.S. intelligence officials pinned on had affected the election results.

So, instead of imposing penalties on Russia for its interference, Trump is going to reward Russia. Talk about creating an incentive for future Russian interventions.

Instead, Trump is minimizing the affect of Russian interference, and proposing to "cooperate" with Russia, which includes appointing a Russian friendly SoS who will immediately seek to facilitate Russian oil exploration deals.

(17,918 posts)The info directly connecting Tweetinfurhrer and his campaign to Russian hacks is sitting on NSA servers in Utah or some other classified site, if it hasn't already been gathered and analyzed. My prediction is as soon as the Republicans can distance themselves from him sufficiently, he will be impeached and probably charged with treason. They were never terribly happy with this ass hat anyway and he has many, many enemies within his own party. Scores will be settled.

(17,918 posts)We've certainly got high crimes and misdemeanors, along a number of Republicans who'd love to see him hang. But, from the intelligence briefings he's had or his people have had, could he have passed classified info to his Russian handlers? Who knows. Leaking it to his mistress, as Patraeus did, is one thing. Giving it to a foreign power is quite another. I still think scores will be settled by him being impeached, one way or another. Once his followers start to fall away, Republicans will have sufficient cover to take him out.

(42,704 posts)But the list of folks who have passed classified info to the Russians or made such information public so it could be accessed by those with whom we are engaged in a military conflict is quite long. The Rosenbergs. Aldrich Ames. Robert Hanssen. Edward Snowden. And so on. Not one of them was charged with treason.
And I wish I shared your optimism that his support is going to melt away. It's not as if folks who supported him didn't have a pretty good idea of how unfit to be president he is. They just didn't care. And unless and until he tanks the economy to a degree that probably is unimaginable, given the solid ground Obama has created, those folks aren't going to bail out on him in the numbers that would be needed to push for impeachment.

Did they "hack into voting machines and change votes?"
No. They changed people's minds. Via a multi-pronged propaganda campaign. So..."no evidence"
And as SHitler promised his MAN-DATE Putin, there will be handsome reward for it.
Why would we expect anything different?

(16,079 posts)A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.
