You'd be forgiven if the first thing you thought of at the mention of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani was not "cybersecurity expert." But Donald Trump's transition team announced Thursday morning that Giuliani would be advising the President-elect on that subject.
The former mayor, who was at one point in the running to be Trump's secretary of state, told "Fox and Friends" that Trump wanted to put together a team of private sector leaders who could advise him on cyber-security issues. It seems Giuliani will be the man leading the charge to put that team together.
"Because we're so far behind," Giuliani said. "And, it's his belief, which I share, a lot of the solutions are out there, we're just not sharing them."
Giuliani said that the team's purpose will be to combat cyber attacks, bring the talents of private sector tech leaders to the government and foster a better relationship between the two. He said he wants America's cybersecurity to be on par with that of other developed countries.

(30,058 posts)he is wrong. I am thinking Trump should go to Putin to get his security briefings, he would not argue with Putin.

Btw, Canada recently announced that internet access is now to be considered a basic need and they will ensure everyone in their country has it. Kinda like we did with basic telephone a century ago. Oh, and it's going to be 3x faster than any regular residential installations (ie not Google Fiber, which is dead anyway) here in the USA.
