C-SPAN: Russian TV took over our feed

C-SPAN confirmed Thursday that earlier in the day Russian state television channel RT interrupted its broadcast, an incident it believed was caused by “an internal routing issue.”

The public streaming feed that regularly captures and broadcasts from Congress, the White House and other government agencies said it was unsure what had caused RT to take over a broadcast of a House floor debate.

“This afternoon the online feed for C-SPAN was briefly interrupted by RT programming,” the network said on Twitter. “We are currently investigating and troubleshooting this occurrence. As RT is one of the networks we regularly monitor, we are operating under the assumption that it was an internal routing issue.”

Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., was speaking about a Securities and Exchange Commission regulation on the House floor at 2:30 pm Eastern time when the C-SPAN broadcast abruptly cut to RT, a Russian-owned English-language channel.

Them hacking C-span seems more of a not so subtle message to me than a tech glitch.

I thought I was hearing things. Then he had his news of the day segment immediately thereafter and the lady who does that spoke on appointees testifying before congress, 2 of which directly contradicted what the professor just said on Thoms show!

The acquiesce on Thoms part was the most unsettling thing. He is normally sharp and diligent with facts and the truth and accuracy.

Was in Japan with no TV during the Cuban missile crisis. I remember being real annoyed at the "Domino Theory" and pissed as hell about Vietnam. My dad was career military and real preachy about communism...yeah yeah.

But from 1968 onward, with anger over Vietnam, the hysteria over the domino theory was beginning to subside. And the Soviet Union didn't expand after we pulled out of Vietnam.

Now I feel like it is all going in reverse. I feel like it is Stalin all over again, like we're in some surreal thing. Like we've been transported back to 1945....
