TAMPA, Fla. (Reuters) - A woman who was taken as a baby from a hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1998 has been found safe, Florida authorities said on Friday, and the South Carolina woman she believed to be her mother has been arrested for kidnapping.
Kamiyah Mobley, now 18, was located in Walterboro, South Carolina, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, which confirmed her identity through DNA testing.
She appeared to be in good health and "a normal 18-year-old woman," Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams said at a news conference.

The woman's biological family was overwhelmed when they learned the news. It will be up to the victim to determine future contact, he said.

[div class"excerpt"]Newborn Kamiyah Mobley, stolen from Jacksonville hospital 18 years ago, found safe; arrest made
An 18-year-old South Carolina womans life was turned inside out Friday morning when the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office and FBI informed her that the woman she called her mother for her entire life had been arrested for kidnapping her from a Jacksonville hospital when she was a day old.
As police work to extradite 51-year-old Gloria Denise Williams from her Walterboro, S.C., home to Jacksonville after her arrest for kidnapping, Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams (no relation) says the woman born as Kamiyah Mobley, but has lived her life under another name, is alive and well.
Joined by State Attorney Melissa Nelson, FBI Special Agent-in-Charge Charles Spencer and other officials, the sheriff credited tips made to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and a quickly-secured DNA match with cracking a case that saw more than 2,500 tips hit dead ends until now. While police didnt name the 18-year-old woman, saying they are respecting her privacy as victims advocates work with her, her biological family was ecstatic after talking to the woman who now calls herself Alexis.
Kamiyahs mother did not want talk yet, according to her Jacksonville family. But other members said the 18-year-old woman told them they can call her Kamiyah when they spoke via phone and Skype Friday. Her father, Craig Aiken said shes coming to Jacksonville soon to see them, or hell go get her, calling this one of the happiest days of my life.
