Trump Names N.Y. Jets Owner Woody Johnson as Ambassador to U.K.

Source: Daily Beast

A transition official confirmed on Thursday that President-elect Donald Trump will nominate New York Jets owner Robert Wood Woody Johnson IV as the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom. Johnson is a long-time Republican donor who served as a finance chair for Jeb Bushs GOP primary campaign before formally endorsing Trump in May, following the former Florida governors exit from the race. He has been chairman and chief executive of Johnson Company Inc.a private investment firm founded in the late-70sand purchased the Jets for $635 million in 2000. His appointment to top diplomat to the U.K. comes just as the National Football League has made a concerted effort to ramp up its influence with a British audience.

Johnson of course is a big Trump donor. From last Septemberr:

Jets owner and notorious GOP fundraiser Woody Johnson has continued to make it rain for Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Johnson, along with Hollywood producer Steve Mnuchin, helped orchestrate an $18 million haul for the Republican nominee, the Trump campaign confirmed on Tuesday.

Obama's finance committee on his campaign ... and also the man, while vacationing in Nantucket, mentioned him in 2004 to John and Teresa Kerry.

The norm is that the plum European ambassadorships go to people who helped you win the nomination.

Our rivalry is better when the teams are more evenly matched. Now that Rex Ryan is no longer in our division, I don't care about blowing anyone out anymore!
