Trump Prepares Orders Aiming at Global Funding and Treaties
Source: New York Times
The first of the two draft orders, titled Auditing and Reducing U.S. Funding of International Organizations and obtained by The New York Times, calls for terminating funding for any United Nations agency or other international body that meets any one of several criteria.
Those criteria include organizations that give full membership to the Palestinian Authority or Palestine Liberation Organization, or support programs that fund abortion or any activity that circumvents sanctions against Iran or North Korea. The draft order also calls for terminating funding for any organization that is controlled or substantially influenced by any state that sponsors terrorism or is blamed for the persecution of marginalized groups or any other systematic violation of human rights.

The second executive order, Moratorium on New Multilateral Treaties, calls for a review of all current and pending treaties with more than one other nation. It asks for recommendations on which negotiations or treaties the United States should leave.
...
Taken together, the orders suggest that Mr. Trump intends to pursue his campaign promises of withdrawing the United States from international organizations. He has expressed heavy skepticism of multilateral agreements such as the Paris climate agreement and of the United Nations.

The era of America's global leadership is over. Never again will the President of the United States be known as the leader of the free world.

The US's standing in the world has been permanently diminished. Already, he's taken us to a position worse than it ever was under Bush.

(1,397 posts)I'm a retired Army officer (retired 1995, 28 years) with several tours of duty in Pentagon and on NSC staff. I know a little something about strategic planning and execution.
Mike Flynn, Trump's national security advisor, is a flaming asshole with the intellect of a goose. Mattis is a thinker who may be able to put the brakes on some of this nonsense. Tillerson is an unknown quantity. Trump is a petulant child.
I don't know who's writing this horseshit but this is very, very dangerous.
It appears that the Trump Mob sees the international scene as one big zero-sum game -- that is, in every interaction there's a loser (-1) and a winner (+1); (-1) + (+1) = 0, hence, a zero-sum game. IN FACT, agreements between/among nations are additive -- each of use gives up a little bit to gain a lot, thus, we all win.
Trump clearly is not intelligent enough to think along these lines and now it's clear that the people around him are as ignorant as he.
We are fortunate that most of the rest of the world is run by adults. If we survive the next four years without a war or world-wide economic collapse, and if we put Trump and the GOP in the toilet in 2018 and 2020, it will take a decade to set right what these people are fucking up.

They are moving fast into green technologies and tRump wants to invest in dying coal.
Trump thinks all he has to do is bleed Americans dry with huge military deficits and that will counter China. Oh, and pump up corporate welfare profits as well for his cabinet and buddies.

Lets see... anyone who isn't white is marginalized and persecuted. Anyone who protests tends to have their human rights violated.
Sooooo this really is anti-u.s.
