(4,292 posts)Today I heard a dyed-in-the-wool Repuke try to explain to a liberal friend how Drumpf is the best. Everything that came out of this rube's pie-hole was a lie! Like:
>Jimmy Carter was behind Iran Contra,
>global climate change is just a theory,
>the pee-Resident deserves all the credit for the Dow topping 20K, proving his policies are better than Obama's, and
>Drumpf's training at a military academy made him a great strategist.
In true simian-in-a-cage manner, when he was trapped by real facts, he could only fling feces.
All I could think of was the Picard meme my brother posted on FB: "Every morning, 'Damage Report'."

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday his Mexican counterpart, Enrique Pena Nieto, should cancel his scheduled visit to Washington if Mexico refuses to pay for a wall he has ordered constructed along the border

Beyond outrageous. So insulting. I hope the rest of Latin America gives Trump a big fuck you

But we need to keep he brown people out and they have to pay for their own wall?
Hmm. I can see racism and class discrimination there.

(68,868 posts)system that put this dumb fuck racist in as President.
The next Mexican president will be a leftwing nationalist, likely with borderline anti-American views. And that's probably important as the USA is a hostile nation to them.
We've already purchased maple leaf luggage tags for our travels there.

(10,918 posts)we have. But seems like more is called for then just canceling a meeting or recalling one's ambassador for a short period of time. At least that's how I would feel as a Mexican that was ordered to pay for U.S. infrastructure.

What sort of effect would that have?
I live in WV. But even the small farmers living in podunk wv hire them to harvest their crops.
Might sort of give US consumers an idea of the interdependance.
I mean US workers are afraid to strike, so maybe they would be too, but if they did it, imagine the power they would have in solidarity.

(10,918 posts)"This morning we have informed the White House that I will not attend the meeting scheduled for next Tuesday with the POTUS," Peña Nieto tweeted.
Earlier Thursday morning, Trump had tweeted that it would be better to skip the meeting if Peña Nieto continued to insist Mexico would not pay for the wall -- something the Mexican leader had said as recently as Wednesday evening.
"If Mexico is unwilling to pay for the badly needed wall, then it would be better to cancel the upcoming meeting," Trump tweeted and in an earlier tweet he noted the US's trade deficit with Mexico and what he said were the American job losses caused by NAFTA.

(49,034 posts)In a second tweet, Pena Nieto said the door wasnt closed to a meeting. "Mexico reiterates its willingness to work with the U.S. to achieve accords in favor of both nations."
Pena Nieto had been under domestic pressure to stand up to Trump, and that only grew after Trump earlier this week signed a directive to start the process of building a wall. In a televised address on Wednesday, Pena Nieto reiterated that Mexico will not pay for a border wall and said Mexico demanded respect as an autonomous nation even as it negotiates new trade rules with the U.S.

I wonder when Trump will get around to insulting the prime minister of Canada, or has that already happened?
I wish that every foreign head of state would refuse to meet with him, then even his press secretary would have a hard time defending his claim to be great at negotiating deals.
Every morning I wake up to the thought that that buffoon is our president, and every morning I have the same feeling of incredulity and horror.
