Russian Charged With Treason Worked in Office Linked to Election Hacking

Source: msn

MOSCOW The authorities in Moscow are prosecuting at least one cybersecurity expert for treason, a prominent Russian criminal defense lawyer confirmed on Friday, while a Russian newspaper reported that the case is linked to hacking during the United States presidential election.
While surely touching a nerve in American politics, the developments in Moscow left a still muddled picture of what, exactly, a series of arrests by the security services here signifies.
But the virtually simultaneous appearance of at least four prominent news reports on the hacking and several related arrests, citing numerous anonymous sources, suggests that the normally opaque Russian government intends to reveal more information about the matter, though it is unclear why.
In the waning weeks of the Obama administration, American federal intelligence agencies released a report asserting the Russian government had hacked into the computers of the Democratic National Committee and the chairman of Hillary Clintons campaign, John D. Podesta, stealing and releasing to WikiLeaks emails intended to damage Mrs. Clinton and help President Trump win the election.
But the unclassified version of the report offered only thin corroborating information, many independent analysts have said. The treason arrests in Moscow hint at a possible human intelligence source in at least one hacking episode, the intrusion into state electoral boards in Arizona and Illinois.
The confirmation by the Russian lawyer, Ivan Pavlov, in written answers to questions from The New York Times, was the closest so far to a formal acknowledgment that the Russian government has detained suspected spies within the cyberbranch of its Federal Security Service, or F.S.B., the main successor to the K.G.B

We need to find the spies in our country and put them in Guantanamo. Trump wants to keep it open for people like him. Traitors. And he's talking to putty tomorrow. Oh goody another jaw dropping day. I guess things can always get worse.

... and so Russia is performing a display of arresting the criminal element for propaganda.

I think that the Cyber-Security expert was actually leaking information into Russia's involvement, and since Russia has been denying the accusations, they were actually eliminating the threat to their official stance.

That's how I'm perceiving it, though I could be wrong.

Now that source is silenced. I doubt that seasoned Intelligence types will stand by passively and watch valuable assets being burned. Things could get interesting fast.

All this syncs with Trump's order that all US ambassadors resign immediately at noon on Inauguration Day. Closing the barn door after the horses have fled.

they all come to believe that Trumpy IS compromised, it doesn't bode well for Trumpy. The intelligence agencies will then be motivated to expose the fact that Trumpy is being blackmailed by Putin.

If they had put out a false dossier (and the associated videos / audios) they might do that to prop it up.

But it is not out.

So it is information that the Russians wanted kept secret so they could get more leverage over Дональда Трампа now or later. Thus the killed the leaker because he greatly reduced the value of their property.

20. Israeli intelligence fears Donald Trumps administration will funnel their secrets to Vladimir Putin

Maybe the Israelis were right about Trump funneling intelligence sources to Russia?

http://www.salon.com/2017/01/13/israeli-intelligence-fears-the-u-s-will-be-a-sieve-for-russia-under-donald-trump/

Israeli intelligence officials are reportedly concerned that any intelligence information shared with their American counterparts will eventually leak to Russia — thanks to the cozy relationship President-elect Donald Trump may have with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The fears stem from a reported recent meeting involving Israeli and American intelligence officials, according Israeli paper Yedioth Ahronoth. Those involved in the talks said that the Americans warned Israel to “be careful” starting Jan. 20, the day Trump takes over the Oval Office.

The American intelligence officials reportedly briefed their Israeli colleagues on the hacks targeting the Democratic National Committee, claiming they had “highly credible information” that Russian intelligence agencies conduct the cyberattacks and subsequently leaked the emails to WikiLeaks to undermine Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid.

According to the report, the Americans also informed Israeli officials that Putin had “leverages of pressure” over Trump. The Americans did not divulge what type of leverage Moscow had, but it was assumed they were referencing the 35-page memos collected by a former MI6 agent.

Drumpf is in hock to the man who is also supporting Israel's sworn enemy to the north - Assad. So if Bibi thinks that sucking up to Drumpf is going to solve all his problems, he may want to think again.

These evil men can keep playing the gotcha games but meanwhile, whole populaces will continue to suffer through this latest geopolitical nightmare.
