Christie: Trump deserves credit for reversing course on original 'Muslim ban'

Source: The Hill

BY MALLORY SHELBOURNE - 02/05/17 11:29 AM EST

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) on Sunday said President Donald Trump “deserves credit” for moving away from the original Muslim ban he proposed during his election campaign, but said he would recommend an “even more tailored” executive order. “I would make it even more tailored if I were advising the president,” Christie told CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

During his run for the Republican nomination, Trump called for “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on.”

Trump last month issued an executive order that imposed a 90-day ban on nationals from seven predominantly Muslim countries entering the United States. The order also included a 120-day ban on admitting refugees and an indefinite halt on admitting refugees from war-torn Syria.
Christie, who served as a surrogate during Trump’s presidential campaign, said he knows the president’s "heart" on the subject and that Trump has no hate for Muslims. Critics of the order, including several Democratic lawmakers, have called the order a "Muslim ban.”

“Now this means that he has to go out and the administration needs to go out and make sure they make his point clear,” Christie said.

Surely his wife and children tell him to stfu. My kids do, and that's only about what I want on tv. I'm not publicly shaming myself.

SEVERAL courts halted his "Muslim Ban" and Drumpf is appealing the rulings in order to put the ban back in place.

The media needs to just stop inviting ANY GOPers on these shows. Then maybe we can hear some real facts and the truth.

I know some will disagree with me on this, but Chris Christie is right - if DJT was to do a "ban" he could have tailored it a whole lot better. Or something as simple as "no new visas" for countries XYZ for X days. Not a good thing to do, and I don't support such action... but we got a showman for President... and someone who signs Executive Orders and doesn't understand or know what he is signing. SCROTUS is an appropriate term for DJT.

Its my opinion that Trump, bully that he is, always has to have some gulible shcmoe to lead on with false hope and then abuse with rejection just for fun. Someone that is so dumb he just keeps coming back for more.

It is said he pits his employees against each other to let them "fight it out."

Sounds like a fun place to work, hm?

I am counting the days until we can get rid of Christie. On Feb. 9 we will find out if the Brennan case against him still has a chance.

political food chain. When people reach that level, they should be sufficiently knowledgable and competent in the application of the Constitution and Federal Law. #45 surrounded himself with advisors just as ignorant and incompetent in running government. That is a Type-1 error. Caused by ignorance and arrogance. Completely avoidable by meeting the bare qualifications of the Office. There is no random uncontrolled process contributing to the error. Both of these men should be removed from their Offices.

When you are down in the polls the way I am ,you must have ways to keep from falling out ,as in down and out. Now, I may be down at 18 % but I am still par the course . And my friend Donald tells me just so long as I don't fall below 9 % ,I'm in the swing of things. Below that and I suppose that means, I'm out.

Now when you are swinging from the down's ,one must have a good grab at that which presents opportunity .There are two things I am really really very biggly good at grabbing-, Doughnuts and headlines folks ,doughnuts and headlines. That's par for the course.
