Sanders, Schumer call for nationwide pro-ObamaCare rallies

Source: The Hill

BY MALLORY SHELBOURNE - 02/11/17 11:16 AM EST

Sens. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Saturday called for nationwide rallies in support of Obamacare, calling GOP efforts to repeal and replace the healthcare legislation “chaos.”

“We are encouraging Democratic senators to lead rallies in their states. This is not a Democratic issue, a Republican issue or an Independent issue,” the senators said in a letter.

“The overwhelming majority of Americans, regardless of political persuasion, understand that we have to go forward on health care, not backwards.”

The letter calls for the rallies to take place on Saturday, Feb. 25.
Democrats held rallies across the country last month in support of Obamacare.

I'm with a group of folks working not only to preserve the ACA, but to push for a single-payer health program in the state of New York.

Democrats should have never fallen for that GOP trap in the first place.

The GOP came up with it in order to be able to smear him with it after their predicted failure of it, with a lot of help from themselves.

The Democrats used it after that because they predicted its success and thought they were being very clever by calling their bluff so they could have a laugh after and watch the GOP scramble to distance themselves from the moniker. So we watched Obama himself use it.

Instead, at every chance, they should have stuck to the name they first used to describe it, The Affordable Care Act, not even the acronym ACA, but the whole phrase, each and every time.

Already something like 35% of Republicans think that the Republicans produced the ACA and the Democrats produced the abominable Obamacare. So continuing to champion the ACA by ignoring the real name that describes within it, its purpose is counterproductive. And instead ties it to one person that has had his name poisoned by RW hate radio and TV which is not helping at all.

It is past time that democrats stop using the vocabulary and framing invented by republicans. It was a huge mistake to call it Obamacare.

I think everyone needs to know that they owe the improvements in Health Care to Pres. Obama. We need to be proud of the fact that this is a Democratic Party Policy and that no (R) voted for it.

If we start basing tactics on what the most ignorant of the ignorant (35% of Republicans) think then we are screwed.

Champion Obamacare. Make the Republicans admit that they can't improve it. Make them admit that they won't repeal it. Make Them Praise Obamacare!

Everyone WILL know the Democrats brought in the Affordable Care Act if that is the only name they hear FROM DEMOCRATS.

Instead they jumped on board the Obamacare train through mostly hubris. 35% of Rs think the way I stated, but almost EVERY Republican and many independents were conditioned to hate Obama (and anything associated with his name) if they listened to Fox or hate radio.

The Republicans will NEVER praise Obamacare. But it would be even tougher for them to tell voters that they wanted to scrap the AFFORDABLE care act.

Not that they won't be used for other similar events.....

I had to recycle some old ones for the last rally a couple weeks ago (MLK day weekend) and don't want to do that again. A new round of protests deserves new signs.

If the Democratic Party showed this kind of resistance to the election fraud committed by the Republicans, we wouldn't be in this mess. They have refused to stand up for their own voters-- since the Republicans stole the presidential election of 2000. They have been silent while Republican secretaries of state purge millions of Democratic voters. To this day they overlook overwhelming evidence of election fraud. Indeed, I think we should do whatever we can to save the Affordable Care Act. But, in order for the Democratic Party to to revive itself, it needs to get rid of the top tier of the Party. Frankly, it's the Pelosi's, the Feinstein's and the Schumers that need to go.

or merged to avoid having to honor ACA requirements. They have in many instances caused many of the glitches in the ACA to mushroom when it wasn't necessary. They are enjoying the "pass" the media and the protestors are giving them. Turn some attention their way. They want to make money and remember there are reap people behind those insurers, mostly doctors who hate that there is any regulation or limits places on their outrageous costs and charges for their services that paid for many times over through Fed. grants, contracts, and other subsidies that the public is unaware of.

Get busy and throughly research these issues and put some pressure on the shady providers too.
