Former wrestling executive Linda McMahon confirmed to lead SBA
Source: Associated Press
The Senate has confirmed former wrestling entertainment executive Linda McMahon to lead the Small Business Administration.
The vote was 81-19 on Tuesday.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky says McMahon will "prioritize growing jobs over growing government bureaucracy" and calls that a welcome change from Washington.
McMahon served as the chief executive officer at World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. before stepping down to run twice for the Senate in Connecticut. She lost both races despite spending some $100 million.

Let's just keep track of the batshit crazy that comes out - there's our fight!

(15,805 posts)how great that turned out! McMahon seems the perfect choice for Republicans who tend to pick the least knowledgeable and unqualified people to head up vital government agencies, so I'm sure she'll be at least as effective as "you're doing a heck of a job, Brownie".

(2,135 posts)Chyna, I'll give you that one. She was already suffering from a bad past, but being dumped for the boss's daughter and then being fired shortly afterward will do that to someone. As will becoming persona non grata after turning to porn.
Balls Mahoney: He spent such a very short time under the McMahon's umbrella, and some of the more brutal bumps he took were from promotions outside of it.
Andre the Giant: Died due to complications from his gigantism.
Ms. Elizabeth: Died 10 years after her last WWE appearance and from a drug overdose at her boyfriend's home. Blaming this on the McMahon's is petty.
Mike Awesome: Committed suicide after being arrested for domestic violence and then being told that his wife was finally leaving him. The only thing he had done in WWE since 2001 was a one-off appearance at a reunion show for a defunct promotion.
John Tenta: Cancer.
Kerry Von Erich: I'd lay this entirely on his father, Fritz, than any of the McMahon's. Kerry killed himself after being arrested for drug abuse.
Chris Candido: If you want to blame anyone for this, blame Dixie Carter, and that's tenous as hell. Candido died of complications from an injury sustained in the ring.
Dino Bravo: Murdered by organized crime after a cigarette smuggling deal went wrong.
Crash Holly: Suicide after divorce.
Chris Adams: Murdered

Look, the wrestling industry is one where the participants lived hard--especially if they performed in the 70s and 80s, and yes, the McMahon's frequently turned a blind eye to the more unsavory nature of drugs and steroids until it came far too late for Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy, and their son Daniel. However, to just point at this list and go "this is their legacy" is disingenuous bullshit.
