Ryan: Still No Evidence Of Collusion Between Trump Campaign, Russia
Source: Talking Points Memo
By MATT SHUHAM Published MARCH 2, 2017, 12:22 PM EDT
House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) downplayed revelations that Attorney General Jeff Sessions met twice with the Russian ambassador to the United States during the 2016 campaign, saying that he had still seen no evidence of an American colluding with Russia to interfere in the election.
Ryan side-stepped a question from one reporter Thursday on whether Sessions had misled the Senate Judiciary Committee during his confirmation process, when he said he he hadnt met with Russians during the 2016 campaign. The Washington Post reported that he did, but a spokesperson for Sessions has maintained Sessions was acting in his capacity as a member of the Armed Services Committee.
Ryan did say, however, that Sessions should recuse himself if he personally is the subject of an investigation.
On Thursday, the Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter, reported that U.S. investigators had examined contacts Sessions had with Russian officials while he was advising President Donald Trumps campaign.

McConnell refused to hold hearings for Garland as SC nominee for President Obama. He said "The next president will pick the SC nominee" How did he know it would be tRump? The fix was in way back when. McConnell's "wife" got a cushy government position out of it. What did Ryan get? Keep investigating, we might FINALLY get rid of the obstructionists in office. Are they all guilty of treason? Cruz in calling this a "nothing burger" Yeah, right. They got their panties in a wad over Benghazi, and e-mails. THIS is SERIOUS.

(9,426 posts)they get it. Covering their own guilty asses at the moment. Good day to be a LAWYER in DC. Busy times ahead. McConnell is blocking any investigations, he has to know something. Ryan is his butt boy, just as involved.

Can they keep this up for the next 4 years?
My money says ... yes.
If there was no wrong doing they'd want a full investigation immediately to clear things up and get this troublesome scandal out of the way but if they are culpable, the revelations from a real investigation would drive voters away.
If they keep denying and never investigate, the scandal will hang over their heads continuously but their voters will be perfectly happy to believe them and keep voting Republican.
If you were in their shoes you'd probably want to do the same thing.
It's really the only strategy they have.
The big question is will it work?

(4,450 posts)Got it. That should work well. For a supposed "student of history" Ryan appears to be woefully lacking in knowledge about US history in the early/mid 1970's.
Personally I think his self-proclaimed status as a historian is about as true as his self-proclaimed status as a sub-3:00:00 marathon runner.

(24,709 posts)if there was nothing there, let's have a "independent" prosecutor to delve into the Sh*t, that you and everyone of the cronies have "created" for yourselves and trying to deflect with all of your spineless might.
You, Chafftez, Gordy, spent millions on a woman running for the presidential office, and finding out there was NO there there, and you and others of your ilk didn't even bat an eye to stop, not happening zippy the twinkle toes.
Lying to a U.S. Senator in any capacity for a job description and into a inquiry to find out if you should be "confirmed to be the Head Law Enforcement officer of the Judaical Branch" there E$$ie Munster, is NOT a good thing.

you might "see" the evidence.
But then, you might not be able to mold the country into your Ayn Randian wet dream.
