DHS head: Trump has convincing wiretap proof

Source: The Hill

Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly says President Trump possesses credible evidence that former President Barack Obama ordered the wiretapping of Trump Tower in New York City last year.

Trump claimed on Twitter last Saturday that Obama had his “wires tapped” in Trump Tower before Election Day last year, making the accusation without offering any evidence.

“If the president of the United States said that, he’s got his reasons to say it,” Kelly said Monday on CNN’s “The Situation Room." "[Trump’s] got some convincing evidence that that took place.”

Kelly admitted he had learned about Trump’s claims from watching CNN, adding he would not guess why the Obama administration might have wiretapped a 2016 presidential candidate.

Of course, Kelly admits that he has not seen it, but if Trump says it, then Kelly has faith that there must be some convincing evidence that it took place. Otherwise, Trump must be mad, right?

Oh well, for a large segment of America, so long as Trump continues to persecute minorities and non-Christians, it is all good.

I am sorry. There are a lot of ways to answer the question, but to say Trump has got some convincing evidence without actually seeing it? When asked he did not answer Blitzer's question, but went on to answer regarding motivation without establishing any evidence that it actually did happen.

God he must want that paycheck.

If Donny had a reputation for integrity and honesty then there might be something to agree with Kelly on.

But, given that Donny's been a crooked bastard from day one and stiffed almost everyone he's 'done business' with, only an insane person would give him the benefit of the doubt.

on Trump's paranoia, which might actually be legitimate, if he's involved in even a fraction of what is suspected on numerous fronts. I still maintain (as many have suggested) that the actual targets of the investigation were Russian, and that FISA warrant(s) were issued in connection with that. Trump most likely was easily caught up in that.

Some questions I have is: Suppose this hypothesis is true. Would Obama have known? Is that why he squirreled this info away into various compartments within the agencies? And most importantly, is it possible the agencies themselves would consider this a "national emergency" of sorts and take steps to withhold the info from a potentially illegitimate or compromised POTUS?

I'm thinking they might be operating on some kind of emergency status, just not sure what all steps they might be taking. I'm pretty sure they've never confronted *this particular situation before.

I'm not so sure I would jump on board with that if I were any of these people. I wonder if at some point in the future a memo or emails or something similar will be leaked with instructions for certain people to come forward to blindly back Trump on this.

The only reason that Obama wiretapped Cheetolini's tower,
is by going through the FISA Court system. And the only
reason the FISA Court would issue a wiretap is that there
was enough evidence of criminal activity.

Cheetolini is in big trouble.

While donnie can technically say that trump tower was wiretapped (and Manafort SHOULD have been), that's not what donnie charged Pres Obama with. WE can't let them muddy the waters that way. Donnie made a specific charge.

Tue Mar 7, 2017, 04:27 AM

Here's reality: Until James Comey threw the election, Trump was losing - and losing badly. There wouldn't have been any reason for Obama (who wasn't running for president in 2016, last I checked) to wiretap Trump because Trump was self-immolating.

It's more likely that Comey had his people wiretap the Hillary campaign and feed the take to the Trump campaign. I don't think he actually did, but if there were any taps placed on a candidate, it wasn't Trump.

However, we do know Trump Tower at one time contained a Russian email server, and a FISA warrant was issued on it. Please tell me this isn't the wiretap Trump is talking about.

It's a very careful choice of words. He's not supporting his boss, he's simply not contradicting him. I don't think for a second that Kelly believes Trump has any such proof, because there is none.

This whole fiasco is the result of Trump conflating the FISA warrant with his own personal history of listening in on his employees' phone calls. He's projecting because of his guilty conscience.

Ongoing national security investigations cannot be discussed in public. This is also why Comey didn't mention it when he was forced to send the letter about Hillary to Congress. Trump and Co. have been caught up in a net spread over the Russians, so the entire matter is now impossible to comment on, officially.

My stance on this is based on the work of British journalist Louise Mensch:
https://patribotics.wordpress.com/2017/01/17/dear-mr-putin-lets-play-chess-louise-mensch-trump-russia/
That article lays out her assessment of why Comey did what he did.

Mensch is developing a lot of cred for her reporting on this issue:
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/feb/17/louise-mensch-trump-russia-ties-media-scoop

Don't let her conservatism or her connection with NewsCorp get in the way of reading her articles on Trump/Russia. She has been ahead of the MSM on this from day 1. She's the real deal.
