Agency sues over audit of grants to counsel pregnant women

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A nonprofit agency with a state contract to help fund counseling of pregnant women about abortion alternatives has challenged Pennsylvania's right to audit money it receives from vendors.

Real Alternatives, a Harrisburg-based agency that is nearing the end of a five-year, $30 million state contract, wants a state court to prevent Auditor General Eugene DePasquale from examining the money.

DePasquale, an elected Democrat who supports abortion rights, said Thursday he wants more information about the use of the payments,
which amount to 3 percent of the state money the contractors receive through Real Alternatives, or nearly $1 million over the past five years.

Real Alternatives says it has helped about 270,000 Pennsylvania women over the past two decades. It also operates in Michigan and Indiana and has helped start abortion alternatives programs in 11 other states

Can't have 'Big Government' sticking their heavy hand where it don't belong ... wanting 'accountability' and such ... why they are a CHRISTIAN outfit (I'm sure) and hence, above reproach, by it's very definition.

Look they got these million of Government $$$ ... by bribing the Government ... fair and square ... Government can't turn around NOW and ask 'how it was spent'?!?

That just ain't fair at all.

"Why, our Indemnity was PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED, Your Honor! LOOK at these here donations we made!"

The State Assemblyman who's district the Anti-Choice group resides in, Mr. Gopper Takesbucks, echoed the groups claims Wednesday, saying "This Agency is over-reaching, asking for accountability of how their government money was doled out by a PRIVATE company! This is an outrage! Next thing we know, Defense Contractors will also have to account for how they spend money, putting Americans at risk of dying at the hands of Evil Terrorists!"
