Trump credits his Twitter wrath for Kaepernick's unemployment

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump veered off message Monday night at a campaign-style rally aimed largely at pushing for the Republican health care overhaul to take credit for a completely different issue: keeping former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick out of a job.

While talking to the crowd in Louisville, Kentucky, about the nation's urban communities, Trump swerved in midstream and cited a report that NFL owners were avoiding hiring Kaepernick because they did not want to face Trump's Twitter wrath.

"Our inner cities will find a rebirth of hope, safety and opportunity," Trump said before bringing up Kaepernick's free agency. "Your San Francisco quarterback, I'm sure nobody ever heard of him." Then the President clarified he was citing an article he had read.

"It was reported that NFL owners don't want to pick him up because they don't want to get a nasty tweet from Donald Trump," he said. "Do you believe that? I just saw that. I just saw that."

He's just not doing it near fast enough to suit me. Can you imagine how history will record and reflect upon this loathsome era?

If Colin Kaepernick had lead his team, the San Francisco 49ers, to victories while refusing to stand for the national anthem he would still have a job. NFL owners do not care about Donald Trump's tweets. How exactly would his tweets hurt them? They are already billionaires. NFL teams do not have stocks so there would be no way to affect the value of the teams. I highly doubt many Trump supporters would actually go alone with a boycott of their favorite team just because Kaepernick was on the team. Even if they did, there would more than likely be someone else willing to pay for a ticket to see the team play.

I think it is pretty clear that Colin Kaepernick is not going to help a team win a Super Bowl and that is the real reason Kaepernick does not have a job at this time. I believe Aaron Hernandez had ties to a gang and was known to use Marijuana, but the Patriots drafted him anyway because he was able to catch a football. Ben Rothlisburger was, I believe, twice accused of rape, but he still has a job because he can still throw a football. The Dallas Cowboy acquired a player that was accused, and I believe convicted, of beating his girlfriend (I believe the case was overturned on appeal because the girlfriend refused to testify during the appeal process. Some say the girlfriend was paid off.) because he was good at football. If Kaepernick was able to throw a football well he would likely still have a job and would be able to get away with anything aside from murder and beating his wife. Beating his wife would possible only be a problem if people made too much of a fuss over him not being kicked out of the NFL. However, if he were a Tom Brady level quarterback a team would possibly be willing to give him another chance even after beating his wife.
