Ivanka Trump to get top security clearance and office, WH official says
Source: CNN
Ivanka Trump will work out of an office in the West Wing and get a security clearance, a White House official told CNN Monday.
The official also confirmed Trump will receive government-provided communication devices, although she will not be a government employee.
The move places President Donald Trump's eldest daughter -- long one of his closest advisers -- at the center of his administration. Asked at a press briefing on Tuesday about the matter, White House press secretary Sean Spicer responded that Ivanka Trump would, by her own choice and at the advice of her attorney, follow rules prescribed for government employees despite being outside of government.
"Ivanka has taken on several measures to promote high standards of ethical conduct," Spicer said. "Even though she's not a federal employee, she'll follow the restrictions that would apply if she were. She's taken these steps with the advice of counsel and in consultation of the Office of Government Ethics."

7. Conditions that could raise a security concern and may be disqualifying include:
(a) contact with a foreign family member, business or professional associate, friend, or other person who is a citizen of or resident in a foreign country if that contact creates a heightened risk of foreign exploitation, inducement, manipulation, pressure, or coercion;
(b) connections to a foreign person, group, government, or country that create a potential conflict of interest between the individual's obligation to protect sensitive information or technology and the individual's desire to help a foreign person, group, or country by providing that information;
(c) counterintelligence information, that may be classified, indicates that the individual's access to protected information may involve unacceptable risk to national security;
(d) sharing living quarters with a person or persons, regardless of citizenship status, if that relationship creates a heightened risk of foreign inducement, manipulation, pressure, or coercion;
(e) a substantial business, financial, or property interest in a foreign country, or in any foreign-owned or foreign-operated business, which could subject the individual to heightened risk of foreign influence or exploitation;
(f) failure to report, when required, association with a foreign national;
(g) unauthorized association with a suspected or known agent, associate, or employee of a foreign intelligence service;
(h) indications that representatives or nationals from a foreign country are acting to increase the vulnerability of the individual to possible future exploitation, inducement, manipulation, pressure, or coercion;
(i) conduct, especially while traveling outside the U.S., which may make the individual vulnerable to exploitation, pressure, or coercion by a foreign person, group, government, or country.

(42,559 posts)According to this poster on Daily Kos:
It turns out that not only was Dmitry Rybolovlevs private jet in Dubrovnik from August 10-13, so was his private yacht. Ive confirmed it to be in the Adriatic, moving towards Dubrovnik the night before with Dubrovnik being the destination on August 10th. I have the proof below.
A few days ago I requested information about Rybolovlevs private yacht, Anna or My Anna, IMO: 1008994, from vesselfinder.com, which is one of several maritime tracking services, for the dates of August 10th-14th, 2016. I received a reply this morning. While I have not purchased the whole set of data, the first position and info of the ship was on the attached Excel file. See below.

Be a shame, and very embarrassing, if her clearance was not granted.
But, if she wants to set herself up for that, I won't try to stop her.

(15,805 posts)Just because she isn't taking a paycheck doesn't mean she isn't benefiting in other ways that the taxpayers are paying for. She gets a posh office, presumably she has staff and supplies, as well as access to all govt services. If she traveling with Daddy Warbucks, then she's taking advantage of free trips with paid food and lodging, free staff, car and chauffeur... all provided by tax payers.
Not to mention how all that access and schmoozing might affect her brand and add to her wealth.Why do the Trumps get a free pass to rip off taxpayers?

(16,829 posts)Imagine if Michelle Obama had gotten security clearance for being President Obama's wife. Republicans would have made a ruckus.
Why won't anyone enforce it?
(Remember? Republicans devised it for RFK.)
And if no one does, she NEEDS TO DIVEST herself from all FINANCIAL GAIN, while inhabiting the office.
These criminals and scofflaws belong in court.
