Affordable Care Act Repeal Is Back on the Agenda, Republicans Say

Source: NYT

WASHINGTON — House Republican leaders and the White House, under extreme pressure from conservative activists, have restarted negotiations on legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act, with House leaders declaring that Democrats were celebrating the law’s survival prematurely.

Just days after President Trump said he was moving on to other issues, senior White House officials are now saying they have hope that they can still score the kind of big legislative victory that has so far eluded Mr. Trump. Vice President Mike Pence was dispatched to Capitol Hill on Tuesday for lunchtime talks.

“We’re not going to retrench into our corners or put up dividing lines,” House Speaker Paul D. Ryan said after a meeting of House Republicans that was dominated by a discussion of how to restart the health negotiations. “There’s too much at stake to get bogged down in all of that.”

The House Republican whip, Steve Scalise of Louisiana, said of Democrats, “Their celebration is premature. We are closer to repealing Obamacare than we ever have been before.”

We had glimpses of it yesterday, but this morning the House GOP’s approach to the Obamacare repeal debacle came into full view, and it is … amazing!

The gist: Obamacare repeal is not dead yet! We promise! No, really!

No matter that they have had since 2009 to come up with a viable replacement and failed. No matter that nothing has changed since the bill was pulled Friday to make anyone think the votes are there.

The tell is in Speaker Paul Ryan not committing to any timeframe for bringing it back up again.

Just because I live in the DC area, and buy insurance in say Oklahoma, it doesn't mean that insurer will pay DC Doctor rates. And who is left to pay the difference? Hmmm, who could that be? Guess I could take it out of my HSA

And I don't have insurance in OK, just for clarity.

premature. Even if it doesn't officially get to the floor of the House, they can destroy it by just stopping the funding of the subsidies, and you don't even need Congress for that.

Trump has pretty threatened that.

DEMS have to keep sounding the alarm about health care, and EXPLAINING to people what the thuglicans/Koch brothers are up to and WHY, and how they're neutering parts of the existing ACA Bill, and what people should look for in their health care bills etc. I know people who keep saying everybody will understand what's going on when they start losing coverage, and I always tell them NO people won't, and that Dems have to keep pounding the message home via their own town halls and meetings, any and everytime they get in front of a television camera or are behind a microphone.

The Koch's, MOST thuglicans, tRumputin, Pence, Ryan and the Freedom Caucus want people to DIE. Alan Grayson of Florida may be "out there," but he rightfully said in 2009 that the GOP just want people to go away and DIE QUICKLY. DROP DEAD & FUCK YOU. Hell, Dems need to play Grayson's explanation of this on the video he made on it over and over when they can.

of a true accomplishment of a First Class POTUS, is so obvious as the overriding reason driving the insanity. AmeriKKKa has become the racists playground again and all those 'minorities' less those hypocrites who joined the boy-potus in this debacle of an election MAY not have to worry when the sides line up in the coming real truth of ameriKKKa civil war.

What's that truth? If they want to pass anything they'll have to get the republican moderates to work with the democrats to fix the known problems with Obamacare.

They'll insist on medicaid expansion to the red states that rejected it, and establish maximum costs for pharmaceuticals, labs and certain services.

It's gonna take more government, instead of less. If Trump wants to stay around after January of 2019, he needs to start dealing now. Toss the 'freedom caucus' (aka Koch tea party candidates) to the curb and deal with the democrats and the republicans who want to have a job in a year and a half.

That's how I see it anyway.
