Ivanka Trump, Shifting Plans, Will Become a Federal Employee

Source: New York Times

Ivanka Trump, the elder daughter of President Trump, is becoming an official government employee, joining her husband in serving as an unpaid adviser to her father in the White House.

Ms. Trump already has an office in the West Wing, and she said last week that she would serve as an informal adviser to her father. But that plan prompted criticism from ethics experts, who said it would allow her to avoid some rules and disclosures.

“I have heard the concerns some have with my advising the president in my personal capacity while voluntarily complying with all ethics rules, and I will instead serve as an unpaid employee in the White House office, subject to all of the same rules as other federal employees,” Ms. Trump said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Throughout this process I have been working closely and in good faith with the White House counsel and my personal counsel to address the unprecedented nature of my role,” she said.

So, Trump is "hiring" his daughter to make it "ethical". Got it.

The topic of "Ivanka" sends them over a cliff.

I wonder how long it will be before Matthews calls her "The Czarina."

1) You can't create new positions in Government "just because".
- Because of Drumpf's EO, there has to be either a National Security or a significant Cost Savings reason for a new position.

2) "Unpaid Administrative advisor" is not Federal Employee category. You can't be considered employed unless there's some benefits assigned to you - even if you're on unpaid leave of absence, there's all sorts of administrative, insurance and legal costs involved with an employee.
- As a Federal Employee, the GAO has to process her at the very least - so she's not "Free" as she would be in an informal advisor position. She's going to cost the government money. And because there's a freeze and all sorts of actually qualified administrative/advisory people looking for work, her being issued a "created position", is still an ethics violation waiting to happen.

This isn't a business. You can't just make up a position for your ne'er-do-well slacker nephew just because your sister wants to get him out of the house.

Executive privilege. This is why she and Jared are becoming federal employees of the administration.

an unpaid person is not an employee you dufuses.

Secondly, she won't be officially paid, but she's got her fingers in the Treasury just like the rest of the grifter family.

Ugh. Can I go to sleep and wake up when these people are gone?

That may sound condescending on it's face, but is there any doubt she'll spend most of the day at her government desk doing daily work for her private business? That means using govt phones, copiers, computers, and the use of a govt paid secretary to sell her wares.

Good job if you can get it.

Little Desk Donnie won't hire staff because all he sees are potential leakers, so he needs someone in the family to cut down how fast the backlog of work grows.
