World War 2 veteran decides to live as transgender woman at age 90 and begins taking female hormones

Source: Mirror UK

A former male World War II veteran has decided to live as a transgender woman at the age of 90.

The soldier, formerly known as Peter, is intent on fully becoming Patricia in her tenth decade - and has begun taking female hormones.

Patricia revealed that the only thing that has stopped her all these years is the fear of how people would react.

She was especially worried that she would be treated with archaic ‘electric shock therapy’ for her natural urges.

Transgender is an adjective, not a noun. Using as a noun can cause insult. Otherwise, agreed. (n/t) FreepFryer Mar 2017 #13

Imagine living your whole life worried about being subject to electro-shock therapy for being who you are. And getting to finally see the day where you can be you at least in the final twilight of your life. This gives me goosebumps. She looks truly happy. Glowing.

Just had to toss that out there. Being "funny", in my own little way. Wonder what he would have had to say....just curious.

but I don't understand why transgender is such a bugaboo. People seem to be terrified of it. Do they have the same reaction to conjoined twins? Six-toed babies? ??? Mother nature (for want of a better label) makes mistakes. One of them is putting a girl in a boy body or vice versa. What's the big deal? I understand transgenders know what they are supposed to be at a very young age. True, in previous times the mix up was not fixable but now it is. It's not their problem, it's ours. Or am I just blowing smoke?

no matter what gender you are. Should be an easier transformation.
