Robert Bentley resignation: Kay Ivey poised to become Alabama's 2nd female governor

Source: al.com

Kay Ivey, the first female Republican in Alabama history to hold the office of Lieutenant Governor, will be only the second woman to serve as Governor of the state.

Ivey assumes the role of governor upon the resignation of Robert Bentley, who is stepping down today over a barrage of ethics complaints related to his relationship with former staffer Rebekah Caldwell Mason.

Ivey, 72, has not issued a statement regarding the resignation or her new role. She is expected to be sworn in later today.

Sure, Mississippi may be statistically worse than Alabama (and that isn't a great achievement), but NONE of its past five governors even were accused of public corruption.

Former teacher and bank officer.
Seems to be a good sort?
There are rumors that she likes her jar.
Nothing wrong with that AFAIC.

Th fact that she's 72 is at least somewhat encouraging, as the older right-wingers tend to be much less radicalized than the ones that came up in the hate radio/Faux News era.

All the Best to her.
