Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt said Thursday Americans don't have to pick between jobs and the environment, accusing the Obama administration of making people believe they had to choose.
The president has sent a clear message that the last eight years where we had to choose between jobs and the environment those days are over, Pruitt said on Fox & Friends.
Pruitt cited a meeting two weeks ago where coal miners became emotional when President Trump signed an executive order set to undo much of former President Barack Obama's clean-power climate agenda.
Two weeks ago we were at the EPA joined by 40 or so coal miners from Pennsylvania. They were emotional about it because the war on coal ended, the war on fossil fuels ended, Pruitt said.

(49,005 posts)Obama did not say it was jobs or the environment.
Pruitt is saying that. And he is saying damn the environment, old-fashioned jobs are going to trump it.
The real choice is Old-School Jobs or Sustainable Jobs. There are just as many jobs either way, short to intermediate term (4 to 8 years), but the latter wins in the long run. And OUR environment wins only with the latter in the short, intermediate and long run.
Old-school jobs are obsolete and declining. Coal mining jobs hit a peak in the 1920s and production hit a peak in the 1950s. Those jobs aren't coming back, and even if they did it would be short term because the new jobs are all in sustainable growth.
Countries like Germany, Canada, and China are gearing up on new technology and will sell stuff to the US after tRump is dumped and the US begins to reverse course. They will have the new jobs, not so much for the US.

The fake news mills learned this very quickly in the last election, focusing mostly on fake news for conservatives because fake news for liberals never sold anywhere close to as well.

Currently, oil is the #1 competitor with coal... and is beating the "tar" out of it. (pun intended)
