Donald Trump Jr. mocked LGBT students and activists at Pittsburgh’s Duquesne University who oppose the opening of Chick-fil-A restaurant on campus in a tweet Thursday, calling them #triggered.

Trump linked to a Daily Caller article that mocked the students in a similar way for opposing the construction of a Chick-fil-A on campus because their “safe space is at risk.”

While Trump’s tweet references the “yummy sandwiches” at Chick-fil-A, LGBT activists’ problem with the restaurant has nothing to do with poultry. The restaurant’s president, Dan Cathy, came under fire in 2012 for admitting the company had donated to anti-LGBT groups who support “traditional marriage.” Many boycotted the chain after those comments and in turn, many conservatives chose to eat at the chain in support.

Trump’s implication that sandwiches are the only thing LGBT students would need to be concerned about, of course, comes in direct conflict with the fact that LGBT students are more likely to be the victims of sexual assault on college campuses and are more at risk for bullying.

which are franchises and many of the owners are not bigots and don't support discrimination. And many of their employees are nicer and more professional than most fast food employees due to their training and hiring practices.

The most diverse, most women-friendly, most LGBT-friendly branch of our armed forces has diversity employee organizations that reach out to food companies to sponsor fundraising lunches. They reached out to several popular fast food chains but Chick Fil A is the ONLY one who agreed to sponsor the events and didn't make any restrictions on which type of group. All groups except the LGBT one used Chik fil A. The LGBT group had a home made bake sale plus doughnuts and coffee in protest because they didn't want chik fil a's support. It's very shitty that the company steps on gay people but they do some good things. Whatever liberal alternative to Chik Fil A should sponsor these fundraisers and advertise it.

Jr. is tone deaf, entitled, privileged, and blatantly ignoring the violence and discrimination LGBT people face simply for existing.

Donnie Jr. is the one who has never have to worry about more than a "yummy chicken sandwich". Many of the student at Duquesne University have gone through more, are still going through more, and will go through more in their lives than Donald Jr. has ever gone through. Unlike Donald Jr. many of these students will have to deal with trying to get a job, paying back student loans, earning the money to buy a house, and figuring out how to provide for their children.
