Trump to discontinue Obama policy of voluntarily releasing White House visitor logs
Source: Washington Post
The Trump administration announced Friday that it would discontinue former president Barack Obama's policy of voluntarily disclosing the names of most visitors to the White House complex, citing grave national security risks and privacy concerns.
Instead, the Trump administration said it would release information only under far more limited circumstances: for those visiting components of the White House classified under the law as separate agencies, such as the Office of Management and Budget. Under the new policy, it will be up to the White House to decide whether to release names of visitors coming to meet with the president, vice president and their senior staff.
The Trump administration was sued in federal court earlier this week by a coalition of watchdog groups in a bid to compel the release of records made public under Obama, which were published on a White House-maintained Web page. Since Trump took office in January, the page where the visitor logs had been publicly available has gone dark, and Trump administration officials said Friday that they will no longer maintain it, a move that the White House said would save taxpayers $70,000 by 2020.

(5,810 posts)(HIS words)....He won't let any bygone insult (real or perceived) go unattended. Honestly, I think he has a little black book of slights, insults and hurt feelings that he keeps by his bed. It is uppermost in his mind to repay each and every one with a hit that hurts and leaves a mark. For as long as he is alive, he will work that list until he has a check mark by each entry. It's not like he has a choice. It is just WHO he is and how he operates. He pretty much told us this during the campaign and his life, so far, has shown this to be true. Insulting tweets and lawsuits are his stock and trade. Don't expect any of this to change....he will be this way until he is six feet under and pushing up daisies.

(14,918 posts)and we're not even 3 months into the term! That $70k is also less than the amount that the orange lamprey jacked up the annual fee for membership at Mar-a-lago, just to keep it in perspective.

(24,703 posts)that so far has cost the taxpayers over 150 million dollars, just on those ordinance factors, not including military ships and planes.
And now he has sent a battle group into the Sea of Japan just to say hello to another narcissistic asshole who has just as much as an inferiority complex that he has, and then in his chocolate cake moment of BS with a communist asshole, that is just as much as a megalomaniac like himself, he goes and spends 3 million on his rat infested resort to bilk us out of tax dollars, when he could be on vacation at Camp David, that's paid for!!!!!!!
But nope he's worried that keeping things transparent from the people that own that fucking building (Washington, not the hotel that he getting paid for and breaking the emolument clause of many items, that this worthless right wing congress should be asking about ) which he lives for free in, I stand corrected that we pay for everyday, that inhibits his lawlessness, that we the people are asking to much if anyone on his team committed TREASON and we want to see the LOG's, because we wouldn't have found out and to top it all off that the taxpayers were paying to have fucking Congressman running over there to spread his BS and to deflect the TREASON, with the help of the Speaker of the House, who also doesn't want us to have this transparency, so that we have access to those LOG'S----------hey guess what sexual predator, Go Fuck yourself and the horse you road in in on WE own the House, We Own the Log's, if you don't like it, leave, move out

(291 posts)If "they" estimate a total cost of $70,000 between now and the beginning of 2020, then I figure that cost to be just over $3.00 an hour. Seems like a great bargain to me!

(22,651 posts)All earning billions of Americans Federal money.
Maybe more billions if the new "for profit" USA "detention" camps can snag several million undocumented Americans with lots of children to house 'separately'.
Oh and forgot the new wall "costs" and 10,000 new border guards, and the costs to eminate domain land for our 100 mile wide "border" against Mexico.
These wealthy guys are big spenders when it's not their own money.
