Judge orders Auburn to let white nationalist Spencer speak
Updated 4:57 pm, Tuesday, April 18, 2017
AUBURN, Ala. (AP) A federal judge has ruled that Auburn University must let white nationalist Richard Spencer speak on campus Tuesday.
The ruling by U.S. District Judge W. Keith Watkins came at a hearing in a lawsuit challenging Auburn's refusal to let the talk occur in the student union, as originally planned. Lawyer Sam Dickson filed the suit on behalf of Cameron Padgett, identified as an Atlanta-area resident who rented an auditorium for Spencer's talk.
In a statement, the university said it would abide by the decision and allow Spencer to speak.
"We continue working closely with law enforcement officials to ensure the safety of the campus community," the statement said.

(112,527 posts)We will be holding this festival on campus in hopes we can deny Richard Spencer a platform on which to speak. Music will be provided by Alex Wilkerson, Dogwood Lung, Cherry Motel, and several others! We will also be hosting speeches from several community leaders who helped plan this event, and there will be free food! Come hang and hold up your picket signs and lets show Nazis what we think of them!
More specific info will be provided closer to the event!

(12,685 posts)Because there's too many of "those people" who wouldn't otherwise be qualified to get to college on campus taking educational opportunities from other kids who really want to go to college.
He apparently had to leave after that.
You don't say that at Auburn University... Football is the holy Tabernacle there...

On edit: Whoops. That was Robert, not Richard, I am informed. Well, I'm still proud of my daughter for standing up to the bigots!
