Pennsylvania governor strips lieutenant gov of security
Marc Levy, Associated Press Updated 5:36 pm, Friday, April 21, 2017
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) Breaking decades of precedent, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf is stripping the state's lieutenant governor, Mike Stack, and his wife of state police protection following complaints about the Stacks' treatment of troopers and other state employees.
Wolf released a three-sentence letter Friday addressed to Stack informing him of the decision. The move dropped jaws in the state Capitol, since lieutenant governors have had state police protection for decades in Pennsylvania, and have occasionally had to step in to serve as governor.
Wolf also told Stack in the letter that he would limit cleaning, grounds keeping and maintenance staff at his fellow Democrat's official residence near Harrisburg, and only under supervision at pre-arranged times.
. . .
Neither Wolf nor Stack have given details about the complaints, although media reports suggested they center around allegations that the Stacks verbally abused their state police security detail and household staff at the official residence, and pressured state police drivers to use lights and sirens to bypass traffic in non-emergency situations.

Neither Wolf nor Stack have given details about the complaints, although media reports suggest they center around allegations that the Stacks verbally abused their state police security detail and household staff at the residence.

(15,286 posts)Honestly, I'm not even sure what the LtGov's official duties are save breaking ties in the senate which the GOP controls 33-17. It's weird but Gov and LtGov run seperately and are elected seperately in the primary. It can make for odd couples when they run together on a ticket. Back in the day, Mark Single was Bob Casey, Sr's lt gov and Casey wasn't crazy about him. When Single ran for gov, Casey didn't do much to help him.
Stack's always been kind of a jerk, though. I doubt he cares if the state troopers drive him around.

Back in high school when I was in the band, this was our bandleader and his wife to a tee. She even looked like Mrs. Stack right down to the fur coat. She wanted what she wanted when she wanted it, and she usually wanted it NOW. Made his life at school a living hell to the point where other teachers shunned him. I returned to school for a football game a few years later and he looked like a completely different person. Happy, smiling, and divorced.
