Trump's lawyers reportedly trying to stop him from getting in touch with Michael Flynn
Source: aol.com
Heading off another instance of very bad optics, perhaps, President Donald Trump's lawyers are struggling to keep him from "reaching out" to former national security adviser Michael Flynn, according to the Daily Beast.
Two in-the-know sources reportedly told the outlet that the president is feeling something like guilt about the way Flynn's ouster played out, and the way the media is handling the ongoing Russia investigation.
"While the president does not regret firing Gen. Flynn, he feels he [Flynn] is a good man who served his country bravely and honorably and who is being treated unfairly by the press and the Democrats on Capitol Hill," a member of Trump's camp reportedly said.

(7,529 posts)Trump right now is probably desperate for info on what's happening. I believe it was reported Trump asked Comey to basically show the FBI's hand in what they were going to present on the Russia investigation and was rejected.
He's basically trying to make an alliance like they do on Survivor.

Yep, go ahead. Talk about how Flynn needs to keep his yap shut. Heck, if that doesn't work, try to intimidate or bribe him.
There's probably enough evidence to lock you up now, but it'd be nice to have some sound bites to use against the GOPers in Congress who still support you come election time.

This attempt (or any further correspondence...) is merely corroboration of one's self-proclaimed innocence.

(12,894 posts)Is there no shame with how insulting Trump will go to berate someone-- and I am not talking about Flynn.
So Trump thinks a man, who is possibly a Russian asset, is more " honorable" than the man trying to uphold our Constitution?! He feels "bad" about the way "Flynn" was ousted, but not the shit-storm he put Comey through Tuesday--while speaking to a room full of people?
Omg...The disdain for this man is so palpable right now that I can't see how anyone could respect him.

(115,720 posts)that if his theoretical client, the president of the US, whose campaign is under investigation for collusion with the Russians in seeking to fix our election and who just fired the director of the FBI which was ramping up the investigation, and who previously fired his National Security Advisor for lying about contacts with the Russian ambassador, now wants to make contact with said fired NSA, he or she would advise said client that doing so would put him in extreme legal jeopardy on charges of possible witness tampering and obstruction of justice, especially considering that THE FBI IS ALMOST CERTAINLY MONITORING THE FORMER NSA'S CONTACTS!

(58,662 posts)Legally, he has to stay away from people like Flynn.
Personally, he doesn't have a lot of "friends." Isolating him from his fellow criminals has to hurt. I sincerely doubt if he knows anybody who is a real non-criminal. I'm pretty sure that anybody in his personal circle could qualify as a non-indicted co-conspirator, at least.
I usually don't talk like this, but if it makes Trump suffer, I like it. I want him to hurt.

Flynn probably hates Trump at this point. Those two fed off each other-hatred,rage,delusions.In the end, they blame each other to lessen their own culpability ,both internally and externally.
Trump has a lot of these type of relationships.

In a sense, this is what Trump meant when he said he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and get away with it.
The crimes are hiding in plain sight....and he IS getting away with them, at least with respect to the bodies entrusted with enforcing the law: the DOJ and Congress.
His political cover may not last forever, but so far it's been remarkably resilient.
