Mitt Romney Bain Capital Claims Don't Hold Up To Evidence
Source: Huffington Post
Mitt Romney has repeatedly insisted that he had no active role at Bain Capital after February 1999, when he left the private equity firm to take over the Salt Lake City Olympics.
In a federal disclosure form filed last August as part of his presidential bid, Romney said he "retired" from the company on Feb. 11, 1999, and since then "has not been involved in the operations of any Bain Capital entity in any way." That date has been repeated by Romney and his team throughout the presidential campaign.
But a growing pile of evidence shows that Romney was involved in Bain's dealings far longer than he claims. From signatures on Securities and Exchange Commission filings to his own sworn testimony, this body of proof reveals how Romney's fingerprints lingered on Bain transactions well into 2002, even while he was managing the Olympics.
While the Romney camp and other Republicans have blasted attacks on the former governor's business record as unfair, irrelevant, and "out of control," the inconsistencies between Romney's claims and the documents trail may be very significant to his campaign. While the issue of honesty may prove to be a sticking point with voters, the implication that Romney was still in an active role while Bain was involved in deals that sent American jobs overseas may cut even deeper.

(1,732 posts)would go for two years being listed as CEO and sole shareholder and not be involved in anyway with the company? The real answer is no one would, for obvious reasons.

(27,617 posts)say "while Mitt Romney was President, CEO and sole shareholder of Bain, Bain outsourced ..., bankrupted..., raided the pension plan, eliminated all health care coverage, etc."
Edit to add - let Romney try to argue to the American people that while he was all those things, he had absolutely no responsibility for anything HIS company was doing. Yeah, good luck with that.

I have never trusted Romney, but couldn't figure out why that was. If you watch him during a speech, he tends to hesitate after a lie to see if the people believed it and he looks over the people and not into their eyes.
I suspect he mastered the art of lying as a child, certainly as a teen and definitely as an adult. Some people seem to believe that if they portray a strong religious standing, they won't be suspect or get caught. That goes for pedophiles, ministers/priests who abuse women and children and sexual predators, as well. Perhaps in their own mind they are pure.
There are many levels of lying and I'm sure Romney has practiced a couple at the minimum.

(45 posts)His record at Bain is contrary to his explanations, his stint at the Olympics is undocumented, his term as Governor of Massachusetts has been erased like the Olympics and there is those DARN tax issues...if he was running for any other office he could not get hired... what on earth makes anyone want to vote for him? I can only guess that it it is the fact he is an old rich white guy...

(45 posts)Surely they can find his taxes and distribute them for the American people...after all the information we seek about Bain is in those and THAT is the reason he won't release them. He was paid to work for the Olympic committee while being paid by Bain...people won't like that. He contracted with donors for services while working at the Olympics and he paid no taxes whatever...not even the 15% he said he pays. He invested in Foreign AUTO MAKERS while he was telling everyone to let Detroit fail. The list goes on! The only way to refute any claim is to SHOW US YOUR TAXES.

You can dispute all you want, but you're fucking WRONG. Now and THEN. Just admit you are. He EITHER lied to the SEC or lied to the FEC. There is no two ways about it.

(43,163 posts)FDR fought most of the battles we're revisiting today. In fact, this
election is about the New Deal. Will the GOP grab the political power to end it,
or will the Democrats hold on to perpetuate it. This is the most important
election since 1932.

Don't let them do it!
