Trump orders Justice Department to launch full investigation into leaks from Manchester bomb probe

Source: The Washington Post

By Washington Post Staff May 25 at 10:49 AM

Following the release of crime scene photos from the Manchester concert bombing, President Trump has asked for "a complete review" of leaks from U.S. government agencies.

The president is expected to get an earful from British Prime Minister Theresa May following the apparent leak. In a statement, Trump said "there is no relationship we cherish more than the Special Relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom," and promised that his administration would get to the bottom of the matter.

normally see such an amount of leaks in this particular case, so maybe this is a DOJ Sessions inspired leak so they can do a witch hunt for Anti Trump leakers ?

They want to pot someone in prison to stop all the leaks. They don't need anything to make them do it, or let them do it.

They are making the play that intelligence services can't be trusted, like with that little document that Russia planted in FBI records, so therefore their information about Drumpf is suspect and amounts to nothing. This is his key to staying in office, Russia disinformation about his treachery and making all our intelligence services, from FBI to CIA look bad. Just shows how in hock he is to Russia, he'd rather destroy our country's intelligence services and put all our lives at risk, just so he can pay off Putin. That's all this is. He also might want this to distract from his own personal leaking of any and all information to bad players - Phillipines and Russia for sure.

They already have a plethora of leaks. Adding one leak yourself isn't going to accomplish anything or provide some new justification for investigation. It wouldn't make any sense.

I'm often surprised at what gets said in US media which you'd think might give away details that investigators would rather keep secret for the moment. I also often see DUers asking why they're not being given such info if it hasn't leaked.

Especially with criminal investigations, there's not a huge range of motives. And all it takes is linking commonly known connections to a motive, and there's your supposition that's presented as a "leak".

On edit. However, the Manchester bombing was definitely a leak. Naming a suspect so soon after the fact, with no photo evidence or "hey, I saw so-and-so there" (or even "I'm going to bomb a concert tonight because of some uppity infidel female entertainer&quot comments on Facebook or other commonly accessed media is definitely not something that would be brought up by supposition.

[*** Trump Condemns ‘Alleged Leaks,’ After Complaints From Britain

BRUSSELS — President Trump on Thursday condemned “leaks of sensitive information,” responding to a complaint by Britain’s prime minister, Theresa May, over disclosures of details from the investigation into Britain’s deadliest terrorist attack since 2005.

“The alleged leaks coming out of government agencies are deeply troubling,” Mr. Trump said in a statement. “These leaks have been going on for a long time, and my administration will get to the bottom of this. The leaks of sensitive information pose a grave threat to our national security.”

He added: “I am asking the Department of Justice and other relevant agencies to launch a complete review of this matter, and, if appropriate, the culprit should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Unauthorized disclosures have dogged Mr. Trump, who has regularly and angrily criticized leaks from his government. In his first month in office, he called for a Justice Department investigation into what he said were “criminal leaks.” But two dimensions of the latest controversy are new: The disclosures in this case are about a terrorism investigation led by a foreign ally, and the British government has brought its complaints to a receptive audience.

It's probably one (or more) of his idiotic underlings having no idea what is, and isn't ok to talk about. Trump defended his own unintentional outing of Israeli intellegence, and talked openly about the location of 2 nuclear submarines. Why would anyone in his administration think talking about a terrorism suspect is a big deal?

As for the leaks in general, this is what happens when you hire narcisitic predators, who hire their own natcisistic predators, while simultaeneosly disrespecting all of them and creating an atmosphere of competition.

Theresa May is going to read him the riot act based on his loose lips in the past. I don't think she will back down, and I think that Trump is a little bitch that doesn't know how to deal with a strong woman. My money's on May. I like her spunk. I actually think she could kick his ass, if she needed to; even in heels.

This is all news that was going to come out and some people got it early. That's called "reporter getting a scoop". Still bad if it was info the authorities were hoping to hold close to the vest, but not so much a leak of classified info.

Start with the people who TOOK the photos. Unless, of course, they were SUPPOSED to be leaked outside of the UK, and President Duh Donald's supposed outrage is "fake news." Or maybe those devil Russian hackers are at it again...
