Hillary Clinton says the Russians had to be guided by Americans

She says fake news and other forms of misinformation influenced the 2016 election.

.....................Appearing onstage at the Code Conference, Clinton pointed to a report by the governments top intelligence agencies, released in January, which found Russia sought to influence and undermine the election. The FBI is still investigating ties between agents of Moscow and the Trump administration, but Clinton said Tuesday she is leaning in a direction that suggests the two coordinated.
The Russians, in my opinion ... could not have known how best to weaponize that information unless they have been guided ... by Americans, Clinton charged.
Clinton specifically pointed to the release of John Podestas hacked emails, which had been published online by WikiLeaks. She said the document dump only came an hour after a story in the Washington Post unearthed a 2005 tape of Trump making a controversial comment about women on the set of Access Hollywood.
Going forward, Clinton said, I think its fair to ask, how did that actually influence the campaign, and how did they know what messages to deliver? Who told them? Who were they coordinating with, and colluding with?.......................

"You don't have a high enough classification to know what covfefe means," Clinton jokes about Spicer's response to Trump's covfefe tweet.

This week, by the way, Elon Musk and others have contacted Trump to encourage him to remain part to the Paris agreement.

"The president is a very impulsive, reactive personality," she said. "If we all like the Paris Agreement, he may decide to get out of it not understanding one bit of it." ..........................................

(51,559 posts)I am glad Hillary will not go quietly into the night and let Trump get away with his crimes. You and I and the millions strong in the resistance won't either. We love our country too much to just give up and give in.
Greta and Wolfy can go fuck themselves. They enabled Trump. They helped him by normalizing him while beating on Hillary's emails as if she had committed a crime. Hillary did nothing wrong yet she was the one portrayed as dishonest. Yeah, I'm still bitter. I will never get over what Trump and his enablers did to my country.

(26,293 posts)as they put winning an election for their party first and they clearly have put the country last and it could explain why Mitch and Ryan have stonewalled an independent investigation if they knew it was going on assuming they themselves were not directly involved in carrying it out of course.

(5,231 posts)By not acting on actual, serious allegations, the GOP have abdicated their responsibility as leaders (I know, not much of a shocker).
Still: we, the (American) people may be many things: not tuned in to politics 24/7, busy living our lives, tired of the division, but we are far from stupid.
The last few times someone congress-splained to me, I laughed my ass off...I'm not a powerful person in this country, but I'm not dumb. Don't piss on me and tell me it's raining. I personally think that the GOP are playing on the idea that The American people can be pacified by platitudes. I think they are in for an awakening. Moreover, I think they are complicit.

I wish I knew how to email this to my Republican women friends and sister. I think it would penetrate their bubbles not just about Hillary but about how high the stakes have become for saving our democracy. .
