Prosecutors: Contractor wanted to 'burn the White House down'

RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. - An Augusta woman charged with leaking classified information was indicted by a federal grand jury on one count, but prosecutors said they are likely to add more.
A federal magistrate judge held a detention hearing for Reality Winner Thursday afternoon. The 25-year-old worked as a contractor for the government and is accused of giving classified information from the National Security Agency to an online news outlet. She entered a not-guilty plea. Im pretty, white and cute, she allegedly told her sister. Prosecutors said Winner told her sister she would braid her hair and cry in court.

As for the plus side of the leak, it prompted The Miami Herald to conduct an investigation which corroborated the existence of the specific Russian malware hijacking attempt which is described in the leaked NSA document. The newspaper learned that the election offices in at least five Florida counties received spoof emails from Russia attempting gain access to the election offices' computers.

(4,673 posts)came down hard against the leak. If true, the fact she grabbed lots of classified info onto a thumb drive that is missing is worrying.
This part seems rather out there - just from looking at her Facebook am skeptical without more information: "Based on evidence seized from her home, federal prosecutors detailed Winner's alleged plans to burn down the White House and travel to Afghanistan, pledging her allegiance to the Taliban."

"Espionage" in this case would not seem to be against the United States.

(22,651 posts)their position to take action against this crazy Admin. She had to have known copying a classified file is a crime, yet did it anyway to 'prove' Russians were fucking with our election.
At this point, IMO she's a type of "whistle blower" a product of todays crazy social media-unless there's more to her story like bribes.
