President Donald Trump on Tuesday said that the Republican push to repeal Obamacare may require additional money for healthcare, but he did not specify how much more funding would be needed or how it might be used.
Trump told Republican Senators joining him for lunch at the White House that their planned healthcare reform bill would need to be "generous" and "kind."
"That may be adding additional money into it," Trump said, without offering further details.

AP sources: Trump tells senators House health bill mean
By ALAN FRAM

WASHINGTON (AP) President Donald Trump told Republican senators Tuesday that the House-passed health care bill is mean and urged them to craft a version that is more generous, congressional sources said.
The presidents comments, at a White House lunch with 15 GOP senators, came as Senate Republican leaders attempts to write their own health care package have been slowed by disagreements between their partys conservative and moderates.
Trumps remarks were a surprising critique of a Republican-written House measure whose passage he lobbied for and praised. At a Rose Garden ceremony minutes after the bills narrow House passage, Trump called it a great plan.
His comments also seemed to undercut efforts by Senate conservatives to include restrictions in their chambers bill, such as cutting the Medicaid health care program for the poor and limiting the services insurers must cover. Moderate GOP senators have been pushing to ease those efforts.
The sources say the president did not specify what aspects of the bill he was characterizing.

(30,765 posts)I wonder what goes on privately. They have probably been terrified and brainwashed into being supportive of him.

(101,368 posts)He's withholding funding from the ACA implementation, but saying they should put some money back in if it's a different plan that's his, not Obama's. It's not *all* about giving money to rich people like him; he also needs to erase the traces of the previous president and put up things with his name in large letters on.
I sometimes wonder if we promised to stop naming scandals by suffixing them with "-gate", and instead prefixed them with "Trump", so that future generations would talk about, say, a "TrumpJail" scandal, would he just resign, knowing his name will live on - even if as shit?

(26,045 posts)...we'll have to cough up some of those sweet, sweet tax dollars to compensate them for the loss of 24 million customers when we return to the "free-market" in healthcare by repealing the ACA.

Apologies for stating the obvious. Am just livid at how odious everything he touches becomes.
