Club for Hollywood Republicans locked in dispute caused in part by Trump

Source: The Guardian

Hollywood conservatives used to cherish the Friends of Abe as a secretive club where they could meet and vent rightwing views safe from liberal backlash.

It boasted Clint Eastwood, Jon Voight and Kelsey Grammer as members, and hosted top Republicans, including Donald Trump, at events in Los Angeles. Last year it announced its dissolution amid fractures caused in part by Trump’s run for the White House.

Now there are two rival Friends of Abe clubs. One is accused of being a usurper and the other is allegedly wilting, fuelling confusion and recrimination.

The dispute appears linked in part to internal conservative divisions over Trump – one of the challenges facing the so-called “resistance to the resistance” in deep-blue California.

The last thing we need is having that Armageddon freak Mr. Fetus Funeral as president, and our dumb-as-a-duck mainstream media pretending that "normalcy has returned to the White House."

Besides which, Pence was in on Russiagate too, and if anything should be jailed right alongside Cheeto, Kushner, et. al.

he cut way back on his acting roles (though of course he still does act in some of the movies he directs like Million Dollar Baby and El Camino). He's actually yet to direct a film I didn't think was at minimum very good, and most have been excellent. And I'd not call him 'over-rated' either.

Kelsey ain't exactly hurting for work either last I checked. He was pretty great in that one show a while back where he played the corrupt (Democratic, of course ... I'm sure he relished it) Mayor of Chicago ... it was called Chief or something. He was great in it, and he's an excellent actor, still.

I mean, screw those dudes politics but they're talented men and really not 'has-beens' even after all these years.

All Republicans needs to resign. That is all. Then move out of the United States to Fukushima, Japan, and live their remaining lives there.

Abe would be a Democrat today. They are not friends of Abe.

The talent may be predominantly liberal. But the suits that call the shots certainly aren't. Do you think there would be so many pointless "reality" tv shows like 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' if it were truly run by lefties? TMZ? Fucking Honey Boo Boo, etc.?

Spare me with that bullshit.

There is nothing liberal about those who run Hollywood. If you look at the propaganda of most Hollywood movies, they reinforce the status quo...which is racist and sexist. As a matter of fact, for most of its history, Hollywood has glorified and propagated false narratives about the Confederate South. Gone With The Win...is just one of many. America's view of other cultures is usually shaped from negative Hollywood stereotypes. Our notion of invincibility and exceptionalism can also be attributed to Hollywood.

It doesn't exist. Never has or never will. If we had a true liberal media, the orange gasbag would have been laughed out of the primaries. As would most of his enablers in Congress.

The worst a Trump supporter gets in Cali is a mean stare.
In the boondocks, you are attacked if you are a Democrat.

If Hollywood is so liberal, then why does Jerry Bruckheimer have no much success?

Bruckheimer is an overrated shlockster.

Take away his special effects team, and his stuff (what little of it there'd be) would be straight-to-DVD.
