'Pizzagate' gunman sentenced to four years

Source: BBC News

A US man who opened fired in a Washington DC pizza restaurant because of an online conspiracy theory has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Edgar Maddison Welch, 28, burst into Comet Ping Pong on 4 December 2016 armed with a rifle and pistol.

He drove from North Carolina to pursue bogus claims that the restaurant was the nexus of a child sex ring linked to Hillary Clinton's inner circle.

No one was injured in what prosecutors described as an "armed invasion".

his mind was filed with this nonsense by others who will not be punished for their lies, but have benefited from them. We need to start holding the Alex Jones' of this world accountable for what they create.

It's reasonable and foreseeable to see that by spreading this type of shit, some poor crazy slob like this guy will act .

One is not born with critical thinking faculties; they must be honed and cultivated. If one doesn't use them, they atrophy. And idiocies like that committed by this idiot happen. It was just sheer luck that no one was hurt.

Being away from what we might call the rights and privileges of free people won't do anything for him.

But being away from his precious guns will probably kill him.

In Trump's America walking into someone's business and shooting at them is less of a crime than someone smoking a joint

Trump defends his cabinet of billionaires: ‘I just don’t want a poor person’ running the economy

Doonald Trump on Wednesday defended his decision to appoint cabinet members with significant personal wealth, arguing he doesn’t “want a poor person” in charge of the economy.

Trump was speaking about Gary Cohn, a former Goldman Sachs banker the president appointed as his chief economic advisor—despite promising to “drain the swamp” during his presidency.

“I love all people,” Trump said during a campaign-style rally in Cedar Rapids, IA. “Rich or poor. But in those particular positions I just don’t want a poor person. Does that make sense?”

Trump has received significant criticism for his appointment of Cohn, as well as Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. Although he ran on a populist platform, Trump’s cabinet has a combined net worth of $6 billion.

In his case, this is the real sentence:

"Mr. Welch, you will never touch a gun again as long as you live. You will not own a gun. You will not fire a gun. You will not hold a gun. You will not be where guns are. If you so much as breathe on a gun, you'll be charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm and you'll go to federal prison for ten years. If that's not clear to you, let's make it very simple: You pissed away your Second Amendment right by falling for right-wing bullshit on the Internet, and you will never get it back."
