Senate GOP scrambles to revise Obamacare repeal bill

Source: Politico

They're expected to release a revised version today addressing continuous coverage.

By BURGESS EVERETT and JENNIFER HABERKORN 06/26/2017 08:29 AM EDT

Senate Republicans are expected to release a revised version of their bill to repeal Obamacare as early as Monday aimed at quelling growing dissent in the party over last week's initial effort, according to people familiar with the matter.

The changes to the bill will address continuous coverage, which was left out of Thursday's discussion draft. The policy is designed to encourage people to buy insurance ahead of an emergency.

The Senate bill is expected to include a six-month "lock out" period in which people who don't have insurance have to wait a certain amount of time before their policy takes effect. The House bill would have allowed insurance companies to charge uninsured people up to 30 percent more for up to one year.

It is not the last set of revisions expected to the bill. A more fulsome overhaul could arrive on Tuesday or Wednesday, according to one of the sources.

All the holdouts will find it in their hearts to vote "yes" when the time comes. This is just amateur kabuki.

and if it has too much that the moderates in the Senate want, the House teabagger caucus will try to kill it.

It may take time to reconcile if they try to bring teabaggers and moderates together for a single (it must be SINGLE to become law) bill for a final vote.

If we rely on the honor and good sense of any Republicans currently resisting this bill.

The same warning also applies during development of the joint bill, during which we would expect to see "principled opposition" to a terrible bill melt away at the last moment.

but focus on those who were paid by the Kochs to put "principle" above party (the teabaggers). This is why Cheeto Boner bailed. In fact, he's probably kicked back sipping a strong one in one hand, with a cigarette in the other, shaking his head at Lyin' Ryan about now.

The bill that the Senate originally presented or the one now with revisions? As any revisions are made before the vote will the CBO keep revising their scoring?
