Mike Pences press secretary wont say if the vice president met with Russians Marc Lotter wouldnt
Source: Think Progress
After Tuesdays major revelations that Donald Trump, Jr. met with a Russian lawyer last July for dirt on Hillary Clinton after receiving an email describing the information as part of Russia and its governments support for Mr. Trump, Vice President Mike Pences press secretary Marc Lotter went on Americas Newsroom on Fox News on Wednesday to remind the nation that Pence was not yet part of the ticket at that time.
But even in the friendly confines of Fox News, host Bill Hemmer repeatedly pressed Lotter to say whether Pence himself has met with representatives of Russia during the campaign. And repeatedly, Lotter did not say no.
Hemmer first asked, Did the vice president ever meet with representatives from Russia? Lotter dodged this, noting that Pences focus was on talking to the American people about Trump and his agenda.
Hemmer tried again: Did he ever meet with representatives from the Russian government during the campaign? Lotter oddly responded that question was stuff that the special prosecutors and the counsels are all looking at, before again noting that Pences focus was talking to the American people, taking his case to the people, and making sure the people knew why they needed to send President Trump and Vice President Pence to Washington.

"If the investigators find evidence, then Yes. If not, then No."
Pence is an old school, 90s style republican, the initial radicalized version, who was smoother, had the talking points down and stuck to them.
More discipline in them.

But just to pick one nit, in the last paragraph, it should read, "BULLSHIT *you're* in so deep..."

(51,744 posts)Trump was leaning toward Christie, but Manafort concocted a stunt to get Trump to have breakfast with Pence so Pence could convince him:
"Christie, the first former presidential candidate to get behind Trump after a poor showing in the New Hampshire primary, had assumed a high profile role on the campaign prior to the Convention reaching out to donors and potential high profile supporters.
Paul Manafort, Trumps campaign manager at the time, allegedly had another idea in mind.
Manafort had arranged for Trump to meet with his first choice for the job on July 13: Indiana Governor Mike Pence. Afterwards, the plans was for Trump and Pence to then fly back to New York together and a formal announcement would be made, a campaign source said of Manaforts thinking.
What had previously been reported as a lucky break by the New York Times was actually a swift political maneuver devised by the now fired campaign manager. Set on changing Trumps mind, he concocted a story that Trumps plane had mechanical problems, forcing the soon-to-be Republican nominee to stay the night in Indianapolis for breakfast with the Pence family on Wednesday morning.
Swayed by Pences aggressive pitch, Trump agreed to ditch Christie and make Pence his VP the following day, according to a source."

FLASHBACK: Mike Pence January 2017.
Q: Did any Trump campaign member have contact with the Russians?
Pence: "Of course not.
Feel free to copy this and send it around "the internets."
It was a coup, it was treason, and it was an act of war by a hostile foreign power.
