.............................
According to The Sun on Sunday, in a transcript of a conversation between the two leaders, Mr Trump told the Prime Minister: "I haven't had great coverage out there lately, Theresa."
She replied: "Well, you know what the British press are like."
He said: "I still want to come, but I'm in no rush. So, if you can fix it for me, it would make things a lot easier.
"When I know I'm going to get a better reception, I'll come and not before."
..........................
Almost two million people in Britain had signed an online petition calling for the visit to be stripped of the trappings of a state occasion, to avoid causing "embarrassment" to the Queen...........................

(19,204 posts)and that certainly fits the description of Trump. He bullies others around like he's the toughest hombre on the planet, but in reality he's a scared little boy. If he didn't own companies and employ people, no one would take him seriously. Now his underlings in the White House cower in fear of this charlatan, and I still can't figure out why. It's not like he's a GOOD President, and their insubordination will be recorded in history as a betrayal to the country. To the contrary, they might actually be revered in history for taking this treasonous bastard down and saving the country.

BTW, anyone think he called Putin 'Vladimir' when they met the other day, like, right out of the gate? I rather doubt it. If he later did, I bet he asked if that was as okay before he did it. Seriously doubt he asked May, though I suppose it's possible.
Anyways, the totality of the conversation ... makes him such a fucking embarrassment. What a WUSS.

(100 posts)The Sun was boycotted in Liverpool after the deaths in Hillsborough Football Stadium because of wicked and scurrilous lies, and even now- is it almost 30 years later? - people might buy it toline the budgie's cage, but not otherwise. Good old Liverpool; Murdoch made the biggest mistake in his liife in alienating THAT group of potential customers.
Ditto, Donald. If the mood goes against one individual, that mood will last, and just get stronger.
English people detest loud, arrogant, lying crooks like Trump, and this is as true now as it willbe in 30 years time. Tony Blair was incredibly popular until he aligned with Bush Junior and went into Iraq despite the biggest rotests ever held in the UK. 15 years later and he is still despised even more than Thatcher in her heyday.
Somehow, I don't think we'll see your 'president' anytime soon - if he lasts, or indeed if Theresa lasts, they are both very damaged goods. We are nice polite people, but we can hate like the sheep at a Trump Rally (see the mess in Brexit?) - for some strange reason, Trump is not the most popular man on the planet; we can look on in horror at his actions in the US but we certainly don't want him over here.
Lord Buckethead would become Prime Minister if his main policy would be to ban this monster from the UK.

Brits will protest him
Hopefully neither of these things change so we don't have to see him there embarrassing the US again overseas. when I was in Europe in April, we got treated poorly when we said we were from America. We told this one couple that there was no way for them to hate him even a fraction as much as we did. They sniffed and said their news said that all Americans loved him and would never speak to us again. Obviously they read and listened to Murdoch media. So, anyway, after that, we said we're from Canada (like the other couple we were there with).
