Iowa evangelical leader suggests Trump fire Scaramucci

Source: The Hill

BY MAX GREENWOOD - 07/29/17 10:39 PM EDT

An influential Iowa political activist is calling on President Trump to fire Anthony Scaramucci after the White House communications director went on a profanity-laced tirade during an interview with The New Yorker.

"'Silence equals assent.'" @POTUS must model and demand a higher standard. @Scarramuci should be fired immediately," Bob Vander Plaats, the president of the conservative group the Family Leader, tweeted Saturday.

In a separate blog post on the Family Leader's website, Vander Plaats urged Trump to wash "Scaramucci's mouth with a bar of soap" and promptly oust him from the White House.

"Mr. President, it is time to look in the mirror, accept responsibility, apologize to the American people, and declare an end to this behavior immediately," he wrote. "While what I’m urging may not be the “Trump” brand, it is the brand of a leader. We need a leader. You must lead!"

Rev. Bob Vander Plaats knew Trump grabs peoples' crotches,
yet he supported him right up until this silly Tweet, didn't he?

Bite me, Bob.

Profanity and degrading insults is for keeping women, queers, and savages in line.

It shouldn't be directed at good pure straight Jew-hating white men.

These right wing racist fundementalists are clueless but they were perfectly OK with dragging their country into a mire of filth.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Epistle to the Galatians, 6: 7

I'm not a religious person, but it would seem to me to the extent that these racist assholes supported Trump, they are mocking their God.

Still, they believe their god has sent them useful infidels throughout the years.

I can't find the best article I read on this subject, but here are two that address it nearly as well:

Thomas Jefferson may have taken a razor to his personal copy of the Gospels, excising the tales of miracles, but he had friends among the Baptists, who supported his campaign to enshrine religious freedom into law. Trump is not the first politically useful infidel to find allies in the evangelical world.

-snip-

In any case, ideology is not the sole bond between conservative evangelicals and Donald Trump. His dictator-lite charisma is essential to his appeal. To the majority of Americans—those who did not vote for him—Trump has all the allure of the boorish boss who takes too many liberties at the staff Christmas party. But his authoritarian machismo is right in step with a long evangelical tradition of pastor-overlords who anoint themselves with the power to make their own rules—and, in the event of their own occasional moral lapses, assure their followers that God always forgives.

But it was Tony Perkins, head of conservative Family Research Council, who abandoned any pretense that supporting Trump was about personal morality—it was about power.

“Evangelicals have been highly selective about how and when they decided to be outraged with a candidate’s behavior.”

“My support for Donald Trump in the general election was never based upon shared values rather it was built upon shared concerns,” Perkins told the Washington Post.

Liberals and conservatives alike chided such comments as hypocritical. Worthen, however, said they were par for the course.

“Evangelicals have been highly selective about how and when they decided to be outraged with a candidate’s behavior,” she said. “I’m not sure [disreputable behavior] has ever stopped them from making an alliance with a candidate who they may find useful for any number of reasons.

I'd rent it for the next 18 months and put every vulgarity coming out of the WH, the Russipublicans, and the right on it with the words "In 2016, Vander Plaats and The Family Leader Advocated For This"

Needless to say, the kabuki mask has been permanently ripped off the evangelical right in this country.
