Big game hunter trampled to death by elephant in Namibia
Source: Independent
The Namibia Press Agency said the hunter, identified as 46-year-old Jose Monzalvez, was killed on Saturday afternoon in a private wildlife area 70 kilometers (43 miles) northwest of the small town of Kalkfeld.
The agency said Monzalvez, who worked for an oil company, was with another Argentine and three Namibians when he was killed. It says one of the elephants charged before the group was able to find a spot to aim and shoot.
The report says Monzalvez had a hunting permit with him and that relatives have been informed of his death.

(1,257 posts)And I don't need a permit for that!
Yet another antiquated lack of morality, that anyone has the right to murder another species for sport and trophies.
I applaud the elephants!
They deserve to have a trophy of his body stuffed and mounted.
They defeated the big man with the little gun.

Elephants are such intelligent creatures. It sickens me that anyone could want to hunt them.

Those are some seriously fucked up human beings. And again I say: All of them. Every single one.

(5,275 posts)You know what is said about Karma. We also know the urge to shoot animals for sport may be compensation for a particular male shortcoming some suffer.

(23,363 posts)From the article: "A member of the hunting group then shot the animal, which collapsed on Mr Botha, killing him."
This was not a "win" for the elephant.

(22,651 posts)Many are kept on breeding ranches. Every once in a while one of the herd members is killed. Usually the older one with larger tusk., 'the wisdom' from an older herd member is lost. The rest of the herd constantly terrified. No older lead female to follow and learn from. The only male for breeding maintained by humans or young males who never would be allowed by a herd to breed in the wild.
Wild or maintained, they're all constantly stressed by humans. Same way for most wildlife that man wants to hunt or remove from their 'home'.
