HOUSTON (AP) — A Houston man has been arrested after being accused by authorities of trying to damage or destroy a Confederate statue at a Houston park with explosives.

Federal prosecutors said Monday 25-year-old Andrew Schneck had been charged with attempting to maliciously damage or destroy property receiving federal financial assistance.

Authorities say a Houston park ranger on Saturday caught Schneck kneeling near a statue of Richard Dowling, a lieutenant in the Confederate army, located in Hermann Park.

Prosecutors say Schneck was caught with two boxes with duct tape and wires and with a bottle containing a liquid made up of compounds used as explosives.

...acting like the Reich-wing. You just give them ammunition when they are running out. Never heard the "Both sides" argument?

Phuck.

That was my first thought.

My second was that HE IS a Jack Posobiec/Jame O'Keefe alt-Reich wannabe who wanted to blow up a damn statue thinking it would point fingers at the left.

Sources told local news station KPRC2 that authorities had searched the same house four years before, looking for materials that could be used to make nerve gas or tear gas. Less than a year later, Mr Shneck, who lived in the house with his parents, was convicted for improper storage of explosive material. He was sentenced to five years of probation and a $159,000 fine.

After reading your article, I started wondering why this 25 year old man was still living with his parents.

Looks as if you're on the right track.

Thanks.

that would go off if someone tried to remove the statue.

BTW, the Rice University area is one of the wealthiest parts of the city.

Obviously for trying to blow something up and put people's lives in danger, but because he was arrested before and got off with probation. He had a supportive family who made it so it was able to finish his degree and get on with his life by getting off probation early. Then he goes and does something as sick and stupid like this. Lock 'em up. Clearly hasn't learned anything and is a danger to everyone.

First of all, that's not a super smart thing to do. What could possibly go wrong?

Second, we have a word for people that do that. Terrorist. Not too long ago we sent those people to Guantanamo.

This fuckface is likely to spend 30 years in jail over this. Way to just take the moral high ground we had and throw it right out the window.
