Trump to reverse ban on local police using military equipment: report

Source: the hill

By Jacqueline Thomsen - 08/27/17 06:06 PM EDT

....................The Trump administration will now allow local police forces to take and use armored vehicles, high-caliber weapons and other kinds of heavy equipment that were once used in the military, USA Today reported Sunday.

The Obama administration initially banned the practice after police in Ferguson, Mo. were heavily criticized for using the equipment against protestors in the wake of the shooting of Michael Brown three years ago.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is set to address the Fraternal Order of Police Monday, where it’s believed he might unveil the new policy.

"Assets that would otherwise be scrapped can be re-purposed to help state, local and tribal law enforcement better protect public safety and reduce crime,” administration officials wrote in a document obtained by USA Today.........................................

4. Besides para-militarizing police for a fascist put-downs, it shifts cost of maintenance to local gov't

.

Just like how Paris widened the roadways, to allow police forces to suppress dissent quickly...

Local police forces can become an extension of a fascist regime by giving the police chiefs and sheriffs suppressive capabilities. They can set themselves up in a form of fiefdom and act as the local control to the larger state.

But, it changes the fiscal dynamics of the town from one that just purchases equipment adequate to being gifted military surplus hardware from the local Army depots or out of GSA inventory. Instead of the government funding the maintenance of this equipment, these costs now fall onto the local taxpayers to absorb. It's a Win-Win for Trump.

The police have always had their share of redneck racists, but there seems to be a big increase given the racial shootings, profiling, etc.

Now Trump gets to arm these guys with military equipment? Does Trump announce new and sweeping police powers next? Is a false flag blaming Antifa "terrorists" in the works?

It looks like Trump is arming his own personal SS.

It's called a police state for a reason.

East Coast of my growing up years, because I have good childhood friends there, the geography is gorgeous, and the cost of living is more conducive for a secure retirement than the CA Coast which is crazy $$$$.

Cancer intervened, and I decided to stick with my amazing medical team for a while. Then 11/8 happened, and it didn't take long to realize CA feels like the safest place for me, economics be dammed. Maybe I'll be a crazy little old lady eating dog food, but I'm not budging.

Am not afraid of the police as I likely would come to be where I intended to move. What we have seen is but the 1st 6 months of horror, a warm-up for what's to come. Or that's my fear.

And those police chiefs who wont follow his agenda, they will be replaced in due time.

Hopefully enough resist but either way, trouble is coming and I don't see Congress ever stepping in to fix this.
